Thanks for the comment dice.

I hope to be able to do this within the next 1-3 months. As soon as I find a house and close on it, I will be installing a whole house filtration system with a water softener. I hope it helps, and I will definitely update everyone.

Very interesting article, I like in a rented flat (UK) so there's no chance of me being able to get this done (let alone pay for it) but it's something that I'll definately keep in mind.

Thanks Ben.

Hello Lyn,

Thanks so much for the comment. Wow that is really neat that you live in Barbados! I agree with you and I think the water is a HUGE factor for many people with eczema, hives, and so forth. I know that it has really made my skin unbearable.

Thanks again for the comment!

I get this problem ever yr when I visit the uk..I am from barbados and I find the water in the uk is so harsh that it takes me weeks after returning home to get my skin back to normal so I have to travel with my E45 cream just for a bit of relief. So maybe it really is the hardwater

Hey Klope,

That is great that your hives have been doing better recently. I hope they stay like that, but with fall and winter around the corner, don't get too used to the sweat =).

I agree that the water softener thing may not do anything, but it is still worth trying. I will keep everyone posted when I am able to do this, and I should be able to test it out within the next month or two.

Interesting theory, though I don't know if I could possibly jump on the bandwagon. Seems like there are far too many factors with water to really narrow it down to that...

Then again, who is to really say there are not multiple 'causes (or 'effects', ;p)?

Also interesting to say, my urticaria has been acting well. At least for now, it has been really hot and muggy, but besides feeling what I'd believe to be abnormally uncomfortable, I haven't really been getting prickles even. I've actually been sweating instead..it's weird and interesting, but we'll see how long it will last.
