Hi,
For the past few months now, I’ve been trying to explain to people that I’ve been getting itching, burning, stabbing pain-like symptoms all over my body. I’ve talked with my doctors, and they have no clue.
It wasn’t until about 3 weeks ago that I realized it was heat related. The only thing that makes it better is a cold shower or splash in the sink, or if I am not near that turn the AC on high in the car.
I almost want to cry to actually know there are other people have this and that I’m not going crazy. Well, I hope not anyway, because there is only one problem… I don’t notice hives. Do they occur where the burning is?
I am so busy trying to stop it that I don’t look at my body to see if there is anything there. I searched and saw there was a post in the forum that the person didn’t have the sign of hives, but I just wanted to double check.
Thank you so much for this site,
Xander

Visible hives don’t always appear with this condition, and some people only get flushing, itching, and/or burning of the skin. This may change over time.

I’ve been dealing with this for 4 years, it is better, but heat, humidity and even food/beverages can trigger it. I have tried a myriad of meds and I’m now on XOLAIR. I have other ways to relieve symptoms, I use a mixture of aloe and invisible zinc and it’s amazing how much it relieves the itch. The key for me is to make sure im using the most natural aloe I can find (I.e. No fragrance or color added) and the best zinc I’ve found is by CeraVe. It truly works!! It’s not a cure, but does provide relief!!
Hope this helps

Definitely that is cholinergic urticaria. Its very depressing. Its caused by a histamine release from mast cells. The histamine release is triggered by acetylcholine. Therefore you must use a combination of drugs to get on top of it. Talk to your doctor about trying the following:
1)a prolonged course of prednisolone 50mg daily for 7days, then reduce dose to 25mg daily for 7 more days
2)polaramine 2 mg daily 3 times a day OR cetirizine 10mg twice a day
3) doxepin 25mg before bed OR doxepin 10mg tds
4)OPTIONAL montelukast 10mg daily
This is the best combination for tackling this nasty condition, in my opinion.
I always tell my patients that if you think you don’t need tablets, then you haven’t experienced the worst of this condition.By the way, I am an immunologist and I have lived with this condition for 20years now.

Hi Xander. Join the urticaria club! As mentioned in my post I don’t always get the hives and to be honest when I do get the hives my itching isn’t as bad. Without hives it’s unbearable. Buy some Cetirizine (if your doctor says it’s safe for you) and have it on hand next time it happens and see if you get relief. I was taking one tablet daily but due to increased appetite I’ve cut down and I’m now getting 3 days relief from one tablet.

I also have all the symptoms except I don’t have visible hives. Ive been to several Doctors, no help what so ever. I been using all natual Black Soap to bathe in & noticed the stinging/itching isn’t “as bad”.

Jandre,
I have had heat intolerance without rash and suffer with anxiety.
Histamine Intolerance symptoms and anxiety mimic each other when it comes to symptoms.
I did alot of research lately and have found some relief with Magnesium, and a probiotic that does not induce histamine.
Please look this up for yourself and see if it might help you too.
Magnesium is AWESOME.
