I had a quick question: Can an anti-histamine like Cetirizine aggravate cholinergic urticaria conditions?
I ask because soon after I started having it, my urticaria went to a next level and started showing small red bumps on arms, neck and back!!
Earlier I only used to feel the itch and no visual symptoms!

My son has had a similar experience. The Cetirizine seems to do no good, and occasionally, his symptoms are worse. One Dr. suggested it isn’t doing any good (Prednisone did no good either) because, at least for him, perhaps the C.U. isn’t allergy related. We are hoping to try to rule out some other things by doing some blood work for thyroid, adrenal fatigue, etc. He recently went vegan (was already vegetarian), to see if a lack of dairy might help.

Also, I can’t figure out how to post a question, not just reply to questions that are asked. Can somebody help me with that? I have a couple of questions that I’d like some input on.

Did going Vegan help him?
Earlier I only used to get itchiness and stings on my body while working out or if there was a transition from cold to hot place. But now symptoms have changed, started taking Cetirizine (prescribed ba Dermatologist until I get my blood report next week!) and now I get red bumps (that sting and burn, but not itch much) on my arms, neck and possibly back.
I am not sure if the anti-histamine is responsible for this, but I have no clue what is causing this ?
Still I try to be in a cool place, not get too hot…am looking for more clues/answers as to what could possibly change the visual symptoms !

it’s funny- well, not funny, but I decided to try Ceterizine this weekend-my hives were twice as bad as usual –(I’m not sure I am posting where I am suppose to?)

It’s hard to say if Cetirizine is responsible! Better if you consult a good Dermatologist/Doctor. One thing I have observed is (any kind of)Stress aggravates the condition.

I take Cetirizine daily because of conic rhinitis and I actually started to think that it was causing it. I had all these symptoms when I was in my twenties and now I’m 40 they came back. I will try using another antihistamine to see what happens but I’m happy to find out I’m not alone in this.

Yep. I started taking Levo-cetirizine (as prescribed by my Doctor) and it is has helped me a lot (compared to the plain old Cetirizine). I hope everything will be fine one day !
