Cholinergic Urticaria and Body Hygene or Body Odor?

Does anyone have any experience with this? Maybe not taken a shower for a couple days and noticed the Cholinergic Urticaria becoming worse?

I can’t say that I have ever noticed my symptoms getting worse after not having a shower. I sometimes go a couple of days (or even three) without taking a shower every once in a while, and I always feel about the same. Sometimes my skin is more oily, and I feel sorta “Icky” because I hadn’t showered in a couple of days. But no hives difference.
Also, I had extremely good hygiene when I first got Cholinergic Urticaria. Maybe too good in fact. I would take a shower every single day (I hated not taking a shower). I would take like 30 minute showers. I would just stand there and let the hot water hit my body (as hot as I could stand).

I was asking cause I have EXTREMELY dry skin and long hair, it makes showers of any kind painful and my hair sticks to my neck and its horrible. So sometimes I’ll go a day or two. Well my recent very large increase of frequency have been attributed to this. But I think it might also be because I haven’t gone outside in a while and we have an old couch and my beds old. It could be sunlight, no sweating, dust mites. I was just seeing if it could be hygiene too (I’m showering tonight regardless) It’s hard to get outside and sweat in the middle of the winter ๐

Yes, my skin gets extremely dry as well! I recently started using this off brand of Jergens (walmart brand), and it works pretty well. But I get dry skin as well.
I agree about it being hard to go outside in winter. That is why I get so frustrated. It is nearly impossible to sweat, or get warm at all with this cold weather. I can’t want until summer finally gets here!

My skin gets dry too, I use Gilette After Shave Balm for Sensitive Skin all over my face. I put Vicks on my chest/back before bed, and if I get really itchy after a shower (happens sometimes) I use Nivea Moisturiser for Dry Skin. I shower daily.

Just a quickie: anyone noticed a strange scent when you break out? It’s not like the stench of, say, sweating horribly, or of not showing, but its very distinct, and I get it almost every time I get the hives.

Hmmm,
Not that I can say I have noticed. But then again, my sense of smell is usually the last thing on my mind when I am itching myself half to death lol. Plus, my nose is always stuffy (I think from allergies), so I don’t have a great sense of smell anyway. So maybe I have just never really payed attention.
I suppose it could be from the body temperarily heating up, or maybe the release of histamine or something??

Hmm, perhaps. Just something I noticed. Again, it’s not really a sweat smell, so it very well might be the release of histamines.
Anyways, thanks

Title: Navel.

Hi guys, I’ll tell you my new experience that I have had, it can be a bit disgusting so you’re advised.
Two weeks ago I started to do exercise with a lot of clothes on, and after four days more or less I began to sweat (however I still had a lot of hives). I kept doing it and I felt with a little hope, then something very strange happended. I realized that a trasparent liquid with very bad smelling was going out of my navel, and it did go out 24 hrs a day (very little). Then I realized that I always had like a strange brown ‘thing’ (like the ear wax) going out of my navel, though I always thought it was becouse I have some hair there. I went to the doctor to see what it is, I was told that maybe my navel is not right closed or it is a fungus, maybe an infection. Do some of you have this ‘condition’ of this kinda wax going out of the navel (very little and only ocassionaly)? The tests are going to last so I want to know If I’m the only with this. Cheers!

Hey,
No, I don’t have that issue with my navel. Just the occasional belly button lint lol.
I do have something sorta similar though on my ear. I have an “ear pit,” which means a tiny hold at the top of my ear. It looks like I had it pierced or something, but it is a genetic birth thing.
Anyway, sometimes I have to clean it out, and it can have stuff in it. But other than that, my belly button/navel is normal.
I have an “innie” by the way lol.

Thank you for reply Hives Guy, possibly the navel issue won’t be related. I also wanted to ask you (I’ll do in this post…) about other thing. Somewhere I read your said that you thought that in humid places you would sweat more, have you tried to put a humidificator in your house? Maybe this would help with the dry skin we usually have, I’m thinking in buying one but first I want to find out if it really helps, probably I’ll ask the doctor, becouse it’s not cheap. See ya

Humidity definitely allows me to sweat more. Even better is high humidy plus high heat.
I realized this more than ever recently. It had been hot and muggy in my area for a week or two, and I was sweating really easily (sometimes not even getting itchy at all).
Then, we had a cold snap, and it got down to like 65 degrees with low humidity. I tried to push mow the front of my yard, and I was itching to death almost the whole time. It was terrible.
Then, it warmed back up to a hot and muggy temperature of around 80 something. I went to push mow again, and barely itched for a minute or two before sweating profusely for the rest of the day.
About the Humidifiers I did indeed try one when I lived in my tiny apartment. It was a really small unit, and I am not sure if it worked well. I tried it for a week or two, and eventually I took it back. It didn’t help, and honestly didn’t make it feel “muggy.”
As I said, it could have been because it was a really small and cheap one. So it may be worth trying. Just buy it somewhere like walmart so you can take it back if it doesn’t work well.
I might also add this: If you live in an area where the temperature gets hot and muggy naturally, just don’t turn on your A/C in the house (if you can safely stand it). A/C units de-humidify in addition to cooling the house.
My A/C isn’t working right now, so it has got as hot as 82 in my house, and very muggy/sticky. It feels terrible, but at the same time, I feel like I don’t even have hives anymore. So that is great.
My wife and I purchased a small window AC for our bedroom, so it cools it down at night so we can sleep.
Anyway, you can try a humidifier to see how it helps, but the small one didn’t help me much. Hot and muggy weather, however, absolutely positively makes me sweat like crazy (and usually without having to feel hives in the process). I am enjoying it so much, that I already dread winter…

I’ve had this wax-like stuff before, I think it’s normal though.
