Hi. I have been dealing with something for the past 2 years I’d say, and I think I might have finally figured it out. However there is something I’m still unsure about.
Around two years ago I started getting this rash across my knees that was incredibly hot. It was also quite “painful.” However, I have a chronic pain condition anyway, so I didn’t think that was necessarily related. Since it started, it’s been happening a lot more frequently (now everyday), and it has gotten to the point I need answers.
I went to my doctor and he was really unsure of as to what it could be and sent me to get blood drawn. Nothing came back on the tests and he sent me to another doctor. They also didn’t know what could be wrong and are sending me to a dermatologist. Last night I was scrolling the internet trying to find something to answer the question of what it could be and I found this.
Looking back it would make to much sense, especially why it comes up after activity and after baths or showers and in other parts of my body. However, mine doesn’t necessarily come up in small dots or pinpricks – it’s more widespread and blotchy with slight dots.
It’s also more tingly than itchy. Would this still fit cholinergic urticaria? Could this still be possibly what I have?
Would love your input many thanks :))

Hey Zoe! I have been experiencing the exact same thing!! I’m seeing my dermatologist again in 2 weeks and am going to ask him if he thinks I might be experiencing cholinergic urticaria. Previously they thought I had rosacea, but when it spread to my knees and then legs the dermatologist was unsure and referred me to an allergist. I also got blood work which came back completely healthy. I’ve been doing antihystamines and anticholingerics for the past 2 months and they’ve helped somewhat, but no total relief. I started doing the diet studies have shown have led to complete remission of hives in cholinergic urticaria a few days ago and so far my symptoms have resolved.. maybe look into that. hope you find your answers!! it’s been a really hard process of diagnosis, but I believe we’ll figure it out one day.

Great explanation. I have the same thing. Tingly or fiberglass or burning type but not an itch and no hives no pinpoints .
