Hello. I’d like to address this thread to those who only have cholinergic urticaria during the winter. Since my cholinergic urticaria started during ending of autumn and starting of winter, I still have hopes that it’s seasonal and it will go away.
It is only the 10th day of spring, so maybe not so soon, but I still have hopes. In my country the minus temperature is over now, the snow is slowly melting and now we got constant ~ +2 – +5 temperature already. Actually a few days ago we had a really warm and sunny day and I am not sure whether it was just in my head or for real, because from the morning of that day my itching got a little better, I still itched, but it was slightly harder to trigger it than usually, but maybe it’s just in my head, I’m not fully sure.
Anyway, I have a question for those who live in a country with summers and winters: when does your CU go away? Does it continue all the way till the summer, or does it disappear during spring? And how does it go away? Do you just wake up one random morning and it’s gone? I’d be really glad if you’d tell me more about this (thank you).
I also have exams coming up very soon and I get nervous very easily, and of course when I’m nervous the itching starts, so I’m afraid to think about the exams, if I just might not be able to relax and sit by the window at school to cool myself as usual.
Thanks!
– Tomas

Hi there!
Mine is all year round. I live in the UK and we barely have a summer here so my body never really has chance to sweat compared to hotter, more humid, places.
I eliminated dairy and limited my salt intake and my skin is a lot more manageable now.

Hi Tomas,
From my experience with CU over the years. It’s kind of a gradual relief of symptoms. Once April comes around and the temperature and humidity increase. I’m symptom free from about May through early October. I’m able to sweat without having to use a sauna which I use during the winter.

Hey, I feel like it might be getting better for me. It started around October. Just yesterday it was 75 degrees, my reaction came on a lot quicker, but was a little less intense. Here’s to hoping the trend continues. I still want to find the source of the problem, so I don’t suffer next winter.

Bless your hearts~ My 32 year old son has CU, and really suffered the first couple of winters. When he gave up sugar, the symptoms got so much better and more manageable. He is also a vegetarian. He tried lots of medication, none of which did any good at all. His itching, etc, starts when the weather gets cool and ends when it gets warm. He lives in NE Tennessee, so there are definite seasons. But watching his diet has done more for him than anything else.

Please tell me what diet your son follows. Is it just not eating dairy and sugars. I am desperate and will try anything!

I have been breaking out for a while after baths and from being outside in the heat. For the first time yesterday, I was using the flat iron on my hair and broke out in hives on my arm closest to the flat iron. CU is new to me. Just diagnosed this year and this is so scary! Please help!!!!!
