Claritin (Loratadine) For Cholinergic Urticaria?

Hello everyone. I haven’t been on here for quite some time, but I have made some progress recently in regards to treating this horrible condition.
During the Winter, my Cholinergic Urticaria has been as bad as it’s ever been. However, considering I have had it for such a long period of time, and that it is of no surprise to me anymore, I just got on with life as well as I could. At this point it is worth noting I had given up completely on any type of medication that might help me. I briefly experimented with Ranitidine, which was suggested to me by my dermatologist, but which resulted in being of no use what so ever.
A couple of months a go now, for some reason, I started taking Loratadine. I think this was due to me just wanting some form of relief, even if it was only a little bit. It was the middle of Winter and I was miserable. I think I just raided the medicine cupboard in hope I would find some antihistamines.
To my complete and utter astonishment, I would say Loratadine is suppressing my symptoms by about 95%. I can still tell the moment of an attack, but now there is literally no itching what so ever, and very soon after I start to sweat properly. It has been an absolute God send.
I have been taking 10mg Loratadine every morning before I go to work for about 2 months now and it is still working. Whether or not it continues to work, I will soon find out. I really have no idea why this is working for me. Anyway, I thought I would give you all the heads up on this, in case you haven’t tried it. I will assume a lot of you will have done because it is quite a common antihistamine.
Perhaps it might be because I am taking this on an empty stomach or something.

Good that you found relief with Claritin for cholinergic urticaria.
Unfortunately not many have such luck with it.

I’ve tried this for a week and it really had no effect. I might try it again but for longer this time. Thanks for the info.

Wow, that’s interesting news! It must be wonderful for you to finally find relief.
I tried Loratadine some years ago. I couldn’t feel any effect, so I stopped taking it soon after. But after hearing about your success, I might give it a second try.
Please keep us updated on how your condition develops.
Best regards,
Henrik

Try taking it in the morning on an empty stomach.
