I have both cold urticaria and cholinergic urticaria. It started when I was 13 years old. I had been practicing for a 6th grade track meet when I first broke out in hives on a hot, May day. That December, I was walking out in the cold and developed hives on my face, even though I was sweating underneath my coat.
In 7th grade, I saw an allergist who put me on Cyproheptidine (not sure on spelling) which made me gain 20 lbs. but IT WORKED! I was so mad that it made me gain so much weight, and to this day, that’s the most I’ve ever weighed.
Last year, a different allergist put me on Cyproheptedine without my knowledge (he called it something else) and I put on weight again but this time IT DIDNT HELP MY HIVES. I don’t know why it didn’t, but I was mad.
Now, I am in my second year of college and have been avoiding exercise. It also doesn’t help that my campus is one of the top ten windiest campuses in the US. Windchill is the worst.
I am trying to set up something with a dietitian to help me with a diet and maybe exercises that don’t make me break out too bad.
Does anyone have suggestions?
