Hi everyone,
I’ve read some posts on here about how taking a hot shower or bath in the mornings helps you break out and sweat and keep you sweating throughout the day. I’m really wanting to try it for my cholinergic urticaria, but I’m pretty worried that it won’t work.
However, I’m thinking about giving a shot soon. Does anyone know how long the itching lasts in the shower?
Thanks,
Cameron

It depends. It may either help you sweat, torture you, or send you into anaphylactic shock (rare). No one can say if it will help you, but I’d advise talking to a doctor before trying any type of sweat therapy (having an Epi-Pen might be a good idea, too).
For people who sweat it out, it usually takes a few minutes of itching before the sweat comes out. It’s different for everyone.

I’m pretty certain that I have the mild version of cholinergic urticaria, given that I haven’t had a shock from being in the sun for a long time, so I highly doubt that it’ll send me into anaphylactic shock. I’ll talk to my doctor about it and see about getting a pen just in case

I tried it and it made my urticaria much worse!!! Humility is a trigger for me, as are many foods and fragrances. My breakout after a hot shower lasted for days. I didn’t need my EPI pen, but I sure thought I would!
Please be careful if you decide to go that route!

I sure will be careful! I’m sorry that happened to you and I went for a walk yesterday evening after sunset, given that it’s insanely humid and warm here, I did break out but the hives didn’t show up, I felt the sensation but yeah. After 10 minutes, it went away and I even started to sweat just a little bit so I feel pretty confident

I am going to try that and see if it works. I am going to Disney World and I am so nervous about it because of the heat and the affect it will have on me with this itching

I start with a hot shower and slowly cool it down before I get out. when I dry of I pat the water of and get out of the hot bathroom and in from of a fan as soon as I can. But some days just hot shower is all I need and do not have cool it down. But there are times I have to get back in the shower and cool it down to just cold water only. I never know which is going to work. My history is I started itching after showers on my back only. Noticed I did not itch when we went out of town. Started drinking bottled water only{I drank a lot of ice water) My coffee and tea was made with bottle water. I could drink tap water in other cities without a problem but not any water or ice from my town. This gave me 90% relief for about 5yrs. now I have panic attacks from itching and burning so bad. Going to see a new doctor this month.
