Hello Everyone and welcome to the website and forum about cholinergic urticaria. These rules are just a few basic things to follow to ensure the safety of all members of the forum, and to ensure this is a great experience for everyone. You can just read the main 4 BOLD & Underlined 1-4 rules to get the main idea, but I do add examples and more detail under each rule if you are unsure about what I mean.
Why Am I Making Rules? Am I on Some Power Trip? Have the hives finally drove me crazy?- No not at all. If you knew me personally you would know that I have no power trip problems, and I am one of the most laid back and easy going guys out there. The reason I have these rules are summarized below:
1. I have legal obligations & responsibilities to ensure the content is appropriate/safe. 2. I have obligations with 3rd party companies I may use to promote this site, run ads on the site to help cover hosting expenses, etc. to ensure the content follows their own guidlines and rules. The advertising revenues help me cover costs associated with running the site, and I don't have to ask or beg for "donations" like some website owners do. I want this to be free for the users of the site. 3. I want everyone to be safe and never misunderstand this as medical advice or get harmed in any way. 4. I want all of us to have a great time, feel welcomed, share experiences, learn more about Cholinergic Urticaria, and grow as individuals in a postive way and learn more about Cholinergic Urticaria. 5. I don't want the forum over-run with spam from: warningography/medicine sites/inappropriate posts, etc. This makes it a better experience for everyone and ensures it has great content and relevant info for those that have cholinergic urticaria.
Okay, Now onto the "rules." By the way, if you see anything that violates these things that I may miss, please help me know about it by hitting the "report to moderator" link at the bottom of the post.
1. Please Don't Spam (Intentionally or otherwise)- This means please do not register and make a post saying, "I have tried this product at this website and I am cured."--OR--- Visit my warning site, etc. I will delete those sorts of post right away since they are either illegal, or trying to promote a product or service which probably doesn't work at all.
This also means please do not post links to promote a new website or product. If there is an interesting and RELEVANT article on Cholinergic urticaria that you find interesting, please share and you can post the URL and a small summary of the article. If there is a product that has helped, please let us know--just be honest and don't try to promote your own products. If you are looking to advertise, you may do so only through the Google Adwords program.
Other "spammy" posts made by new members will be edited or removed if they have no relevance or purpose and are just trying to scam innocent members out of money for a "miracle cure." We already have it hard enough with hives...we don't need scams to deal with on top of that.
2. Please Do Not Give Specific Medical Advice, List Dosages, Or Post Links to Online Medication Sites- It is unsafe to offer advice on dosages or particular treatment plans. What may be safe for one person, could be deadly for another. People have allergic reactions and things like that to medications all the time. Only a doctor should prescribe medication because they can accurately give dosages and suggestions based on your medical history. This is just common sense, and helps ensure that people of all ages and backgrounds that may stumble on the web are never confused into thinking this site is medical advice. Always consult a doctor about medications, diagnosis, treatments, and tests.
Example of an Acceptable Post: I have tried a BLANK (you can post names of medicine) antihistamine and it helped a little, but didn't fully remove my symptoms--This post is simply relaying information of an experience without making a recommendation on dosages, places to buy, or that the medication could be safe for others. Instead, it is merely relating an experience without going into details such as dosages. It gives us information we can talk with our doctors about to see if it is safe or appropriate for us to try. I am fine with listing names of medicines (i.e. zyrtec), but please not dosages or places to buy.
Example of an Inappropriate Post: I am taking BLANK medications at BLANK dosages. Try those. You can buy them cheap online without a prescription at BLANK pharmacy store. This medication is safe. Heck, I even take 2 times the normal dosages to make sure I don't have symptoms at all.......
(the same person posts again 5 years later)....I am dying from liver failure...don't take thost meds I told you...
This is a dramatic example above (and I am being funny as well). This is dangerous because there are many unsafe online websites that could be selling fake, dangerous, or outdated drugs that could kill you. Not only that, X amount of milligrams for one person may be fine, while that many for a younger person (or different weight) could be deadly. It could interact differently for each of us. Not only that, but we don't know what side effects could be waiting a few years down the line. Maybe some medication seems like it works, and then 5 years later your liver shuts down or you get cancer. Only a qualified medical doctor can write prescriptions, give medical advice, prescribe dosages, and warn about potential side effects. Please only see a doctor for this information. This website is not medical advice, it is only a support site for those with Cholinergic Urticaria.
3. Copyright Notice: Please Do Not Post Full Articles From Other Sites, Pictures, etc- If you come across a great medical or research article online about Cholinergic Urticaria, please feel free to share it with us. However, please do not re-post the entire article, picture, or content from another site without permission. There are various copyright laws which protect against people copying content on the web.
Example of Okay Post:- I found a great article on a new treatment they tried on a Cholinergic Urticaria person online. Basically the guy was on X medication and his hives went away completely. Here is the URL: example.com/the-story. What do you think?
The above is perfectly fine because you are briefly summarizing the article/content in a few sentences in your own words, and not just copying it 100%. This ensures that the post in no way violates copyrights.
Example of Copyright infringement post: Here is a great article I found online below: ----Copy of complete article here----
The above example could be considered copyright infringement, so please do not re-post complete articles on the forum.
Again, I have absolutely no problems at all with you summarizing an article in a few sentences or paragraph, and then posting a URL and adding your thoughts. But please do not post the whole article word for word.
4. Please do Not bother other members, use profanity, be rude, leave racist comments, etc- Please lets just all be nice to one another. This means don't use profanity (it may offend some people). Please don't be racists (we are all created equally and there is only one race anyways- the human race). Please don't insult others, etc.
This is just basic common courtesy to ensure we all have a great time and feel comfortable talking with others on the forum.
Whew, that's it. The point is to simply relay info, have a great experience, share our stories, list treatments and test we have had, etc. to find as much about Cholinergic Urticaria as we can.
The point is not to pretend to have medical degrees and give advice on medicines, nor to spam/harm others.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comply with these basic "rules." Good luck with everything and God Bless!
