Hi,
I’m 19 and developed urticaria when I stopped playing sports due to chronic migraines about 5 years ago.
The past year it seems to have disappeared, and now I sweat profusely when I get a bit hot (which is better than the itching pain like I’m dying).
Over the years every medical problem I’ve had has ALWAYS come back to urticaria, and most of the time a yeast infection/problem. I have well over 8 symptoms of a thyroid problem, and one of the symptoms is urticaria. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
I’m getting minor bald patches due to my thyroid making my scalp unhealthily dry as well as my skin, when there’s an upside there’s always a down side which sucks but I suppose I’m happy my urticaria has disappeared (for the mean time).
Thank you,
Ryan

Hello Ryan. At least a few other people have commented about a thyroid and hives connection on this forum through the years. A few have successfully eliminated their hives with treatment, whereas others did not. If you do a search on this site, it should bring up some of those archived discussions.
I wouldn’t rule out food allergies, either. I know of a few people who had migrane headaches, and it turned out to be food allergy/food intolerance related. One person was intolerant to bananas, and everytime they ate them they got migrane headaches. Food allergies/intolerances are also linked to hives and some of the other symptoms you desribed.
Back in the day, I lost patches of hair on my arms and my beard wasn’t as thick because I was consuming food in which my body was intolerant. When I cut the foods out, my hair grew thicker.
I certainly hope you’re able to figure it out soon.

Ryan, when you said yeast problems, are you referring to overgrowth of Candida?

I have hypothyroidism and CE but my CE didn’t manifest itself until Inwent through 2 episodes of Scabies over a 4 month period.

Thank you very much mate I’ve followed this forum for years since I was at school and I love it. My bowls have got worse I thing I’ve developed IBS which is a symptom or a thyroid problem, I suppose I could see a dietitian or something because there’s no food I eat that gives me a migraine or makes me funny except bread, my stomach rumbles after I eat it but I’ve been eating bread with no problem all my life :/ maybe it’s a gluten thing, literally 80 percent of the hair on my legs has fallen out for some reason

Thanks for following this site for so long, and I’m glad that you’ve found it helpful. That is definitely interesting that your leg hair has fallen out. It definitely could be thyroid related. I hope you get your health back on track soon. Just keep a positive attitude. It took me years of trying diet and other things before I finally found my solution (praise God).

Yeah I think it would be an overgrowth of candida Deborah, I always have a lot of white stuff on the back of my tongue and any time I have symptoms it always seems to link back to candida :/

Great post! I, too, have thyroid problems, and my recent results came back overactive (hives are a symptom of underactive and overactive). However, my results weren’t ‘bad’ enough to be put on medication. Changing GPs soon so there could be some hope.
I can’t help but wonder that many people on here have had stomach problems. I got diagnosed with IBS at 16 (I’m 22 now). I hardly had the general symptoms, apart from bloating and a bad grumbly tummy, even when I’m not hungry. These symptoms seem to arise for quite a lot of people on this forum. I tried cutting wheat and dairy out but to no avail. I usually keep a food diary which majorly helps and I’ve seemed to find a link between meat and stomach upsets. So i would definitely recommend getting some tests done and keeping a food diary 🙂
