Histame Supplement for Cholinergic Urticaria or Hives?
Post by: silvertones on January 03, 2011, 06:05:47 AM
Sounds interesting at least from the point of it is speaking directly at what seems to be the issue. Whether it works is yet to be seen. I have some on order and will try it.

Seems interesting. Let us know if this works for you. I agree that it seems almost like it could help if it really works. I know that a low histamine diet helps a lot of people with chronic hives.

I finally got this yesterday. been snowed in and i walked to the Post Office. The instructions tell you to try & limit foods that have Histamines and to take a pill prior to eating any foods with Histamine. At $37 for 30 pills I’ll be taking no more then 1 a day. I’ll try to plan my meals. I’ll let this go for 30 days and let you all know.

Thanks for the update. I hope it works, or at least helps a bit. I’ll be crossing my fingers.

Thanks for that update Silvertones. That is disappointing, but you are right, the stuff does seem very expensive for a supplement. So I can’t blame you not wanting to try more. It was worth a shot though, to see if it did help with Cholinergic Urticaria any. So far my vitamin supplementation isn’t doing anything noticeable either, which is also very disappointing. But I am still going to chug it out since I have quite a few left. I will give a final update on it later on.
Oh well. I have my sights set on fexofenadine (Allegra) when it goes OTC within the next few months. I am going to try it along with an H2 to see if that knocks it out enough so that I can function on days I really need to. Time will tell.

HivesGuy & Silvertones,
I have been a lurker on this site for approximately three months. I ordered some Histame myself (only a pack of 7) and it arrived on January 18. Itch-relief has been moderate but noticeable, additionally, I have been sweating more now than I ever have in 4 years, and that on my chest and forearms which rarely if ever happens anymore. I have not yet summoned the courage to work out again. I have been in many unusually high-stress social events, my diet was very histamine charged and yet I have been functioning fairly well, much better than normal. I think more people need to try this out. We need a larger sample space.

Is Allegra coming OTC? nicee! in March 4! then we can get ready for Spring with that, I guess it is pretty effective. But it will be so bad for your body taking it on a daily basis. I read your article and HiveGuy says he will make a combination that require the least consumption of medication. I am taking Loratadine daily, but I am concerned with the impact of taking it daily on my health. Hopefully Allegra is effective but not really bad for our bodies. I really wanna take it, if it works fine. Maybe taking it on even days and when im not taking it, ill take a least effective antihistamine? like: Allegra, Loratadine, Allegra Loratadine.
Allegra is pretty big, i wonder if it will work if we take half per day.

@roger–Yep, I can’t wait to get it in March. I will definitely let everyone know how it works for me. As far as taking half of an Allegra–they actually make different doses. I believe 180mg is the highest dose, and I think they make a 60 mg. I am not sure if they will offer all of these in their OTC offering, but maybe they will.
@Neo–Thanks for the post and welcome to the forum. That’s great if you are getting relief from it. Just make sure it isn’t the placebo effect, because that has happened to me a lot.

How do you identify that the med is actually working and its not placebo effect?

Sometimes you can’t. Hives can get better randomly and you may think it was because of X therapy. But in reality it was just a coincidence. On the other hand, sometimes things can really improve it. If it wasn’t the meds, the hives will probably come back soon.

My plan is to combine Histame, which regulates histamine levels, 2-3x a week with Allegra, which blocks histamine production), 2-4x a month.
