Hi,
My name is Anfernee, and I’m a 22 year old African American. I’ve been dealing with cholinergic urticaria since I was about 10. It all started after I had the chicken pox…when I turned 11 is when my life changed.
I was at home talking with some family and all of a sudden this itching sensation hit me and hit me HARD. I was itching so bad that I went to the bathroom a stripped off all my clothes that I had on, turned on the water faucet, and began rubbing water on me to make it stop.
Then it got worse when I turned 12. That’s when I started the breaking out. This happened at a little baseball practice while I was in the outfield shagging balls. Every since then I have been itching and breaking out like all of you.
I love playing sports (Football and Baseball). Without playing, I don’t think I could have made it as far as I have in my life. Without the coaches pushing me and me wanting to stop itching…football and baseball helped me through high school. College has been a different story but I don’t wanna get into that….The thing I wanna know is did all y’all start experiencing cholinergic urticaria after y’all had chicken pox? Or have you never had chicken pox and you still got cholinergic urticaria?

Hello, Anfernee. Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum. I can certainly relate to how you felt with dowsing water on your body and trying to stop the hives.
I have had chicken pox when I was younger, but my cholinergic urticaria didn’t start until years after that.

Hi, Anfernee… I am sorry for your CU, and About your question : No, I never had the chicken pox.
But CU Happened with me after I started doing less sports than I used to or when I stopped as many people here, I wonder If that’s the case with you :S
I hope you feel better and all the people who have too.
