I got my hives last October when it started to get cold, and since the summer has started, I’ve been almost entirely itch and hive free, except for recently when it’s been a little colder.
I’m considering transferring to a college down south or in California where it would be warm year round.
Has this made a difference for anyone with seasonal cholinergic urticaria?
Thanks,
Dan

Oh, yes. My hives for years of past memory worse in winter and nonexistent in summer. Not a hint. I was in Thailand for a year and pretty warm most of the time, and i am pretty sure no hives as I recall. Of course, there were other ailments there, but try Miami!!

It is obvious that people in North America is lack of vitamin D.
Helen Tan says
There is no need to move away from where you are. Just talk to your doctor about trying vitamin D 3 times a day.

Unfortunately last winter I asked my doctor if it might help after reading about it here, and she said it couldn’t hurt to try, and it didn’t make a difference.
James says
helen, did you try vitamind d? does it work?

I have been with this for 6 months straight now since Dec. I thought that by traveling to a warmer country the condition will change because it only happens when it’s getting cold. I live in Rhode Island and now I am in Dominican Republic trying to see if it is posible. But no! It hasn’t change. I can’t even get a little warm because I start feeling itchy and desperate. I am spending my days inside a room with an A/C and when I get out of the room I use ice cubes and rub it on my skin. This is frustating. I am seeing some Doctors right now, getting opinions but I don’t get with any hope at all. I am so depressed and I’m thinking to go back to Rhode Island and discard the opinion that it is not climate.

Add some sweet potatoes to your daily diet. It seems to help.

Yes, I did take Vitamin D. I also avoid gluten and sugar. I changed my diet totally. Take multivitamin, fish oil, calcium magnesium and iron tablets. I eat lots of vegetables, fruits, lean meat and fish. I also notice sweet potatoes are also helping to eliminate the allergy. I eat it everyday by steaming it for lunch. Of course I also do some exercise and walk everyday for 30 minutes. I am lighter, healthy and the chronic urticaria is gone for good. Yes, I also drink warm lemon water early in the morning and before bed. Give it a try. Good luck!
