Hello everyone!
So here is an update of what has gone on since I made my last post. My allergist had me retake the 24-hour urine test for histamine and metanephrine, and they both came out pretty high, but not extremely high. She was kind of having issues trying to understand the results:
Metanephrine 193 ug/24 hr 52 – 341 ug/24 hr
Normetanephrine 612 ug/24 hr 88 – 444 ug/24 hr H
Tot Metanephrine 805 ug/24 hr 140 – 785 ug/24 hr H
Creatinine mg/dL, Urine 73 mg/dL mg/dL
Histamine nmol/L, Urine 344 nmol/L nmol/L
Histamine nmol/g Creat, Urine 471 nmol/g CRT 0 – 450 nmol/g CRT H
Apparently they were high enough to wonder what in the world is going on with me so she has referred me to endocrinology.
I just thought you guys would like to get an update. Now to set that appointment up, ugh.
Sincerely,
Mary Lou

Thanks for updating us on this, Mary Lou. I hope you they find some way to help you. Are your symptoms still severe?

Same sort of results with me, same referral to an endocrinologist in Ma. Loser MD who had no clue about CU and acted like it was nothing, even though I showed him photos of me covered head to toe in hives after shoveling snow. So disgusted with western medical system, with exception of ortho surgeons or fixing what they don’t know how to prevent in the first place. Ie heart health via diet and supplements. My primary count even wrap her head around leaky gut, which is a fact! Go Ben’s holistic approach you will have better luck in healing your gut.

Deborah, I’ve had these random ‘hives’ for several years now. Thought at first we had bed bugs. You mentioned shoveling snow! My current bout started right after I shoveled/snow blower for over an hour no break. I sweat so badly and wore a t- shirt but my snow coat really holds the heat and when I came in I couldn’t cool off, even the crook of my elbows sweat. That was where the break out is the worst.
I’m finally recognizing the pattern of where I consistently have the hives as to where I sweat (when that happens). Mainly around bra line and underwear band.
I recently thought it was related to gluten intolerance/hypothyroidism. This makes more sense.
My D.C. had been on me for leaky gut for years, too. I wonder if going back to taking glutamine a few times a day would make a difference? Worth a shot.
Thank you for your comment, it inspired me to rethink my situation.
Btw, I find quick soapless showers really help. Sometimes twice a day esp right after shoveling.

You know, I often wondered if it was also a latex response since it’s worse around underwear elastic bands and I’m allergic to latex. Hives really bad there when snow plowing in ski clothing. The leaky gut is the key since our immune system starts in the gut I really believe. I mentioned hypothyroidism or Low level normal range thyroid issues missed by docs who insist on only ordering a TSH in earlier post.
