Just curious to know how many people with cholinergic urticaria have only the itching, prickling sensation without the hives (red dots/rashes/bumps)? Is that common?
It is still triggered by heat and subsides when cooled off, although getting angry, excited, nervous can also trigger it.
It seems to occur mainly in the winter time.
Thanks,
Just Curious

Hi, you nailed my symptoms exactly… I get the prickly sensation, but no hives. I found in my case It is related to a gluten allergy. If I stay away from all gluten, the issue is reduced but never completely goes away. It happens when I get hot, nervous, excited, etc… I have been dealing with it for a couple of years. I did the elimination diet and slowly added food back until I found the culprit.

That is my case as well. Mine is bad in the summer. It appears as long as I keep sugar out of my diet, I don’t have it

This is exactly what I have been experiencing for the past few months. I have been under a tremendous amount of stress lately and felt I needed a boost. I have been taking a B12 shot once a week for three weeks now and the symptoms are almost completely gone.

I have the same problem. My is unbearable in the summer. It get worse when I’m hot, even opening a hot oven can trigger the prickly sensation. I noticed too that the symptoms are mostly in my upper body, especially my scalp. I’ve been suffering for well over 20 years but each year it gets worse. Last summer was really bad when I mentioned possibly having Cholinergic Urticaria to my Dr. she said I couldn’t have that because I didn’t have hives. At least I know I’m not the only one who has these symptoms without the hives. Still haven’t found anything to help me during the summer.

I’i’m new at this. My doctor told me that it was probably something autoimmune, and gave me antihistamine’s.
I had finally got my Life the way I wanted it. Nice yard, pretty garden, lots of fruit trees bushes few flowers and I was quite content. And this happen and started making a live miserable I turned bright red, Itching, burning, all the symptoms that everybody’s mentions. All I wanted to do was work in my yard.
So I installed a 25 foot long saltwater pool, aboveground. So now when I go out to work in my yard, I take a trip through the swimming pool get nice and wet. Then I work in my yard until I start to dry off of little, then I jumped in the pool. I don’t get as much accomplished as I’d like but hey at least I’m getting to do it. I’m not sure it’ll work this well when it gets hotter since I live in Texas.
