Hello. My name is Kim and I’m 19 years old, from Denmark. I’ve had cholinergic urticaria for about a year now, and when I started noticing the symptoms, I found this website where I found a lot of people saying that sweat treatment helped ease the symptoms, and some even said they went away completely.
That of course gave me a lot of hope, but living on my own, working part time at minimum wage, going to the sauna every day isn’t really an option. So I tried many other ways to get sweating. Running, staying in the sun for a long time, getting under 3 blankets with, like, 3 sweaters on, you name it. But nothing seemed to work until this morning when I was walking around my apartment listening to an older Rihanna album and dancing. Then the dancing got pretty intense, and long story short, I didn’t notice that I wasn’t itching until a drop of sweat rolled down my back and I was in tears from happiness.
Anyway, I danced a bit more and then went to sit down and have some water, when I noticed my shoulders and neck getting itchy and my stomach getting hives. Nowhere near as bad as usual, though, and it didn’t sting at all, it was more like 10 mosquito bites located around my upper body.
Anyway, while this of course is a major breakthrough, I was wondering if I could potentially make the remaining symptoms better or go away altogether if I keep sweating once a day? Because that would be a dream come true!
Thank you for your time.
– Kim

Hello. For me, getting a good sweat in the sauna before working out helps make my day go well. It seems as though the urticaria builds up over a period of a day or so thus, I try to make sure I do some type of exercise to get a sweat on a daily basis. It helps relieve the pain of the itching. I also tend to do better when in hot and humid conditions because my body tends to me in a constant state of moisture because of intermittent sweating. Since you live in Denmark, I imagine the high latitude of your country would bring more cooler temperatures on a regular basis. Thus, making sweating harder unless you do some type of workout. Keep at it. Also, I take a multitude of antihistamines such as allegra, citerizine, and benadryl. They help. Hope this helps you.

It has been 7 degrees Celsius in Alberta Canada for a month or so now. & today we had a 31 degree day & my symptoms completely disappeared. I was sweating normally without any itching. I believe this may be seasonal for me as when the hot weather comes back & I start sweating regularly, my symptoms subside.
