Hey,
I am 20 years old student who started to suffer from those hives about only one month ago , and I really don’t know how I am going to continue with my life and my studies with it!! So I would like to get some tips for beginners.
For example, I have an exam in a few days, and I don’t know how I am going to make it, or if it will hit in the middle of the exam! I am that kind of student who get nervous after the first hour of every exam and feel that I am not gonna make it! And unfortunately, I have noticed that the hives really like to come and say hello when I am nervous.
So for those who had this experience before, or something similar, it would be great to hear from you.
Thank you,
John

Hi John
I am a student myself and have been struggling with C.U for about 18 months now. When it comes to exams all you have to do is remember to take lots of breaks when in the exam and take long deep breaths. Most of the time if I start to think about the itching it gets worse so try to concentrate on anything but the itching.
Also a really cold bottle of water is great and taking any antihistamines that work, I’m taking loratadine at the moment which doesn’t get rid of it all together but calms the itch a little.
Hope this helps. Good luck for your exam!

I am a student just like you and I know exactly what you’re going through! My life was a living hell last year because of CU but I did not know that it was CU and they used to get me a lot when I feel nervous or stressed or even when I just walk to class, I know that sucks. Anyway I bought a sauna in my apartment and now I wake up 1 hour and a half before my first class starts. I wake up turn on the sauna and then take a shower and then I enter the sauna and stay there until my entire body sweats. (usually it takes 30 minutes for my entire body to sweat inside this sauna because it only goes up to 150 degrees unlike a real sauna) once I’m done I drink water (I drink water while I’m in the sauna as well) and then lay down on my bed for about 10 minutes waiting for the sweat to dry and then I wear my clothes and go out.
If you do this you wont get hives for about 8 hours. This became a routine for me I actually do it everyday.
This is the sauna that I have:

You have to understand that when you use this sauna you will feel itchy and it will hurt but you just have to hang in there until your body sweats. When your entire body sweats you will be fine and you wont get hives. If there is a real sauna near you then it might be better to use it instead of buying one because a real sauna is hotter and it will get the job done more quickly.
Good luck and I hope that this helps =))

Have a very cold bottle if water with you to cool yourself down, it’s such a life saver and has stopped me from breaking out many times

Hi John,
I understand you very well. I had the same experience before, but I am kind of relaxed nowadays. What I did is; I have been using antidepressant everyday, so I can manage my situation and nothing happens in the exams, or at minimum levels( nothing I cannot bear).
I hope you will get rid of this ilness soon
Sercan.

Hello John. I am sad to hear another student with the symptoms of CU. A good way to live your life normally as a college student (socialize) is to join a gym, or go to your campus rec. center. As Ali has mentioned, using the sauna daily will benefit you greatly. Bear with initial prickling and sweat it out! Good luck!
