I have had this condition for at least 13 years now maybe more. I have never known what has caused this. My Dad would take me to doctors but we never received any answers. So I have never thought much of this condition.
So when people would ask what was wrong with me, I would simply state I get a heat rash whenever my body temperature gets raised. It wasn’t until I was scrolling through Facebook that I ran across another post mentioning cold urticaria.
I started searching “hot urticaria” and I came across so many articles and websites about cholinergic urticaria. I am 23 and have finally found an answer. When I found out it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders.
My biggest triggers are getting embarrassed, getting nervous, and just heat in general. I live in Texas so just walking outside while I’ve been in the AC will cause me to breakout. But the point of all of this is that I am thankful for this website. I have some insight to this condition, and I am not alone. So thank you so much!

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience, and welcome to the site! I’m sorry to hear that you spent so much time suffering without even knowing the name of the condition. I’m glad you found out now so that you can learn more about cholinergic urticaria and connect with others. I hope you find information here that can help you on your hives journey.

I’m 23 and have had this conditon for over 10 years now. I have tried every treatment in the book. Preciption medication and shots, you name it. I recently found the ONLY thing that will keep from breaking out in hives. Yes, I won’t break out in hives while I am on this medication. It’s the generic version of Zyrtec (ceterizine). I usually just buy the cheap walmart version so it only costs me roughly $20 a year. Maybe this will help someone out because for the longest time I though I would never find a solution.
