Hi,
I have been attacked by urticaria, but slowly it reduced once I controlled some foods which are intolerable to my skin. Just then, when I thought that all is fine, there is a change.
I started going swimming and running. I started getting hives back. I don’t sweat much. There is a change in my body if there is heat or light sweat due to temperature.
The hives are getting back. The medicines are not working, and the hives are all around throughout the day. Any suggestions for this? What can I do?
Earlier hives used to come on reactions for food but now the conditions changed. Can you guys please help how to solve this ?
Regards,
Madhuri

It’s so hard to give people advice on this condition because CU is such a self aware condition that it will fight you no matter what you do.
I give the same advice to all who come here seeking answers. Sweat therapy is great to get you through your day, if your doctor says it’s safe for you. Break the sweat barrier early in the morning with a hot shower, muscle through the pain in the comfort of your own privacy and home and you should be good the rest of the day.
My other more extreme option, for those who can handle it, is to raise your body’s heat tolerance. This is not a proven method and I’m sure most doctors wouldn’t recommend it but it worked wonders on me and I haven’t had a breakout since early last summer.
I raised my heat tolerance by consuming extremely hot and spicy foods on a regular basis. It was easy for me because I love spicy. But it was hell at first. My arms, chest, back and top of my head would all get itchy. It was a necessary step to overcome my CU though.
To those who want to attempt my method start slow. Use weak hot sauces at first and steadily build up to hotter ones. It’s not going to fun but the results are worth it.

My body wasn’t absorbing the medicine. My doc gave me meds for ibs and they helped. It took a while but my hives disappeared. I went off the ibs meds for a couple years then my hives came back. I’m back on them again. I also think learning relaxation techniques helped me. Good luck!

Hello, Madhuri, I suffered severely from cholinergic Urticaria and I FOUND my cure. This is what worked for me
1. I NEVER USE AN AIR CONDITIONER!!!! for some reason when I used one in my house it brought them back
2. I SWEAT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!! I’m really not kidding when I say this. This is when the reaction is the WORST but, what I found is if I sweat CONTINUOUSLY, IT GOES AWAY after about a week.
3. antihistamines only made it WORSE!!!!
I noticed that my reactions only came on in the winter mostly so I’ve experienced with myself severely and came to the conclusion that everything I said was valid based on personal experience. I never had reactions until I started using an air conditioner and eliminated my sweating.
Again, this is based on my personal experience I know how you guys feel. I have to leave gym class, every class in general, COULDN’T work because it was so severe. I’ve been free from it for 10 months now and I will NEVER use an air conditioner on for a period of time because through a lot of trial and error I found out why I was getting my reactions.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I suffered from this every gym class from 7th-12th grade along with my entire 7th, 8th, and 12-grade experience. Oh yeah. It also prevented me from DRIVING
Also, the reason why “sweat therapy” is so useful to some people is the SAME reason I say to not use air conditioners. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Edit: eliminated the use of my air conditioner to prevent the hives. Also, I did notice chocolate made it worst. Lastly, when I told my dermatologist my theory she agreed and then came up with her own theory on why mine worked so well and so on…
