Title: Cholinergic Urticaria and Meth Use? Can Methamphetamine Cause Hives? Post by: onepunch on May 06, 2009, 08:50:02 PM
Can meth cause hives or cholinergic urticaria? Well call me bold but im convinced that Meth use has something to do with My Cholinergic Urticaria. I started using about 5 years ago and have quit several times for periods of 6 months or less, I know i sufffer from Cholinergic Urticaria and not another itching burning awful pain when i sweat. And by no means is it something like “Meth Bugs ” .
The Cholinergic Urticaria also started about 5 years ago or so in the shower and then the whole shabang for about 2 years. tried everything from showerin and trying to “sweat it out” to execive sunlight. Had no clue that it was Cholinergic Urticaria, it was just a mystery cuase but i knew meth had something to do with it.
So I quit meth but still sufferd. when i got into meth after about 4 months or so i was useing heavier then i had ever used and suprisingly the Cholinergic Urticaria had sopped, for well a time of about 2 years maybe less, then about 9 months ago theyre back and this time with the help of you guys hopefully i will beat it. just tried the viniger soak today hopefully some results in a few days but im going to hang in there like you guys are.
Oh ya i am not using meth anymore but still Cholinergic Urticaria persists.

Hello onepunch,
Excellent post & welcome to the forum!
Excellent post & welcome to the forum!
I am sorry you too are having to deal with this annoying condition. I too have had this on/off for several years now. It started a couple of months after my 18th birthday, and then went away about 6-7 months later. It stayed gone for about 1-2 years, in which I don’t really remember any attacks. Then it came back full-force, and I have had it since. So I can definitely relate with it coming & going, and having it for a while now.
It is always possible that meth could have caused it or something, but I don’t really think so because I have never done meth or any drugs. I don’t even smoke or drink, and I know of several others on this forum that don’t do those things either (some are very young pre-teen girls), and we still have it. So that leads to me believe that meth probably wasn’t the cause (but again, I could be wrong).
I am glad that you are now avoiding meth, and props to you for doing so. I personally know of people who have had a very difficult struggle with it, and I am glad to hear you are done with it. I want you all to be healthy & happy :).
As far as the vinegar thing goes, I guess it is always worth a shot (just be sure to dilute it with water). I have stopped trying it because I didn’t feel it was helping at all, but I did do it for a couple of weeks or so. So it may work for you, but again, it didn’t really help me (which is sorta frustrating, but oh well).
I honestly think you will be able to manage this, and one day it will go away. We have to stay strong, and focus on the positives. It is annoying, painful, and itchy, but we can beat this! I always just try to keep in mind that most medical articles say it usually goes away forever after a few months or years.
Trust me, it will probably go away soon, and you will be able to beat this thing. I honestly think we all will. Thanks again for the awesome post, and welcome to the itchy club! LOL
