Could chloramine be a factor? Citizens Concerned About Chloramine (CCAC) www.chloramine.org/index.htm
In the US, it seems to have originated from Tennessee. ‘The success of the process in Tennessee and elsewhere in Europe prompted the application of chloramines at other US facilities’ search books.google.com for ‘chloramine tennessee’ and choose first link ‘Optimizing Chloramine Treatment’

Hello Jona,
Great post and welcome to the forum.
It is possible chloramine could be an irritant, and may even cause hives. I am not sure if it is chloramine that is causing my hives, but I DO KNOW that something in my water is making it unbearable, and I suspect it is possibly the cause of my hives (or is making them worse).
I think it is mostly due to the excess chemicals and minerals in my water locally, but then again, it could be anything in the water (magnesium, calcium, chlorine, chloramine, fluoride, etc.). That’s why it makes sense to consider a shower filter for hives, or even a water softener for hives.
Interesting theory though. I hope I will be able to find out soon whether or not it helps when I get a water softener and filter.
