Hello everyone. I am 20 years old, and I used to suffer from cholinergic urticaria. It started August 2016. Soon after I’ve came across this website to find that I was not the only one going through this.
I don’t want to talk much about the pain I went through, more what I have done to overcome cholinergic urticaria. I remember quitting my job because I couldn’t handle the pain at work. I couldn’t do presentations in class. I learned from my body that the hives would come when I got nervous, hot … anything that can possibly cause you to sweat even a little bit.
I’ve paid attention to that and noticed I literally have not sweat for months. One Saturday the sun was out, and I decided to go outside grab a chair and sit right under the sun. It hurt for a few minutes but I took the pain and I finally started to sweat.
The pain went away for a few days then came back. I grabbed a chair and did the process all over again. I knew that I couldn’t do this every three days so I decided to go to the gym and play basketball every so often. I found things that caused you to normally sweat fast to be the most productive and almost painless.
Fast forwarding I have learned from my body (everyone’s body is different) that my diet needed to be changed and that I needed to exercise every so often. At the time I just started college and ate fast food almost every day. Now my diet is changed I feel a lot better.
I have noticed during the winter and fall (months where it’s harder to sweat because of the weather) the hives start to come back but not nearly as painful. My body has adjusted, and I have found ways to kill the hives. My go to is visiting a sauna at your local gym. Works like a charm!!
The key to getting rid of cholinergic urticaria is to sweat. Force your body to sweat regularly. Eat healthier and exercise. There is a lot of foods humans aren’t supposed to eat that are horrible for our immune system. Remember the key is to sweat.
If you are new to cholinergic urticaria, try to remember when you are going through those hive attacks that even though its feeling like someone is stabbing you, it’s all in your head. Your body is built to have response to everything.
This is the response to you getting nervous. Your body is releasing histamines. This is why most doctors have suggested antihistamines. Just try to stay calm. I used to work in a restaurant and every time the hives would come I run into the cooler. I would be home playing my game get excited, hives would come I take off my clothes and run into a cold shower. This made it worse.
Please stay away from medicines. Doctors tried to give my shots and steroids, but I knew that I can overcome this naturally.

Note: Always consult a doctor before exercising, as it may be dangerous or even life-threatening for individuals with anaphylaxis or other health problems.

Wow, amazing. Thank you so much for sharing. I do exactly opposite, try not to sweat at all (and since I hate exercise it works amazingly well:):). Will keep this in mind.
