Hello to all.
My name is Lorenzo, and I’m an Italian guy. I’m 25 years old, and I do not speak English well.
I wanted to ask if you know a specialized center to treat cholinergic urticaria. I live in an island of Italy, Sardinia, and no doctor knows how to help me. They are not familiar with cholinergic urticaria.
I do not know what to do! For nine years I’ve suffer with cholinergic urticaria without having the right care. Please … help direct me to where I can get treatment. I am willing to go anywhere!
Thanks,
Lorenzo

Hey, Lorenzo.
I’m sorry to hear of your struggles with this condition. I don’t know of any places that deal with cholinergic urticaria exclusively, but most dermatologists would be familiar with it. Even doctors who are familiar with the condition have difficulty treating it, as some cases can be very stubborn.
My advice would be to start calling dermatologists in your area, possibly even allergists, and then ask if they are familiar with your condition. I also have an article on this website listing most of the common treatments that doctors have tried, and you could always use that as a reference when dealing with doctors.
Also, if you haven’t done so already, you may want to spend some time reading this site to see what’s helped others suffering with this condition.
I hope this helps, and I certainly hope you feel better soon.

Hi,
I just wanted to add… I went to a dermatologist who wasn’t very helpful. He gave me a steroid cream which made it worse (made it more difficult for my body to cool down) and said an oral steroid treatment could be next. I know they sometimes do that, but it felt like a leap. I went to an allergist who was much more helpful. We tried other things first including antihistamines and he was very familiar with the disorder. I’m sure there are some dermatologists who know more than others regarding CU, but if you don’t find what you are looking for there, know there are other sorts of doctors, such as allergists who may be able to help.
Good luck!
