I had never had any problems with food allergies and rarely with any environmental allergies my whole life. I’m 42 and have been pretty much able to eat almost anything. I had my gallbladder removed in november 2013, and about a month after that I started developing hives on my legs stomach and some of my arm. I went for allergy testing and came up allergic to some food and had patch testing 5 months ago and still have a pink square on my back from the nickel.
I had the ALCaT 200 food panel intolerance testing, and have a list of foods to try to avoid. I have apparently developed keratosis pilaris on the back of my arms and things that never bothered me now bother me.
Polyester, certain fabrics, sitting outside or walking but not even in the heat I will get rash everywhere. Nobody seems to know why, but the only thing that changed was I had my gallbladder removed. Ever since then I have really not felt well and it’s quite frustrating trying to find food to eat when you’re allergic to wheat rye barley soy and rice and many other food apparently. If I sit too long I will get marks in weird areas on my legs as well.
Has anybody been in a similar situation or had weird things like this happen after gallbladder removal surgery? Desperately trying to find a solution. I have been on every allergy medication and steroids and believe I’m allergic to prednisone and some of the allergy medications as well. Any help is appreciated.

Hello Rach,
So sorry to hear of the health issues after your gallbladder removal. I’ve never had mine taken out. My wife’s grandmother did, and she hasn’t had any issues like the ones you described.
I do know that my wife’s gallbladder acts up when she eats foods that she’s allergic to, but so far she hasn’t had a major issue with it. Here’s just a thought: It could be that you had unknown food sensitivities that caused the gallbladder to act up in the first place, and after it’s removal, they intensified.
Anyone else out there had issues after gallbladder surger?

Thanks, I have no idea what changed in the body but pre-gallbladder removal, I had no issues with skin or heat or anything. even if I lie down or prop up on the bed, I will get a rash. Clothing will bother me, it is pretty miserable.
Am on a food rotation diet through ALCAT and trying to avoid the foods I tested allergic to, but not a lot of improvement yet.

Something similar happened to me. After my gallbladder removal I immediately developed IBS, lol the uticara came later and will blog about that, as it has been the straw that broke the camel’s back. But years I suffered unknowing. Recently, I underwent tests through Johns Hopkins University. I found out that bile was filling up my stomach and therefore everything I ate made me super sick. Unfortunately, u need medicine to cure this is called Colestipol. Basically what it does is it soaks up everything in your tummy. There are no effects with the exception if you take it in the am, you cannot take any other vitamins medications until one hour later, as they will be absorbed. This drove me nuts so I take two or three prior to bed time or if I misbehave with food. In addition to the medication I have to follow a stricter than usual FODMAP diet. Most IBS suffers can do well on just the IBS diet but I need to limit it even further. I am not a doctor just suffered with postgallblaber surgery for about 11 years now. I am unsure as to if the uticaria is linked as there is not much out there. Just found this site today. But for the issues with food you need to see a Gastrologist. They found my issue through a endoscopy.
