I am a cholinergic urticaria sufferer for 8 years now, living on the Pacific west. It’s only been unbearable the past year or so. I’ve been taking Allegra for the past 6 years? Maybe the effects are wearing off?
I recently took a trip to Thailand for vacation and the weather was low 80s, high 90s with humidity of 80-90%! I didn’t break out to my surprise, and I did sweat a little here and there. I normally can’t sweat, which I was concerned I might not survive the trip. As soon as I returned to the mainland, I broke out and turned red all over. UGH.
I haven’t been able to do much strenuous activities because of my break outs, and I’m afraid I might over heat. I feel like the environment plays a big part, along with diet of course. I eat almost everything, but in proportions. My recent allergy tests showed I’m allergic to a lot of the trees which I’m surrounded by, and I keep trying to avoid processed foods and dairy. (I keep turning back to them due to cravings). I did purchase this book and there are plenty of good pointers I’ve read- thanks Hives Guy! I’m going to start a new diet and see how this plays out. Trying to stay positive and strong.
Thanks for sharing your stories out there!

Thanks for your support and for sharing, Anne. High humidity definitely helps in the sweating process. Also, you probably are getting used to Allegra if you’ve taken it that long. I would adapt to it in a matter of weeks. People who do see a lot of help from antihistamines will sometimes rotate them out so that they don’t adapt to them. Sorry to hear that your hives got worse once you returned, but I’m glad that you’re staying positive. Hang in there.
