Hey everyone!
It has been a while since I have updated the blog, so I thought it was time. My hives have been doing much better lately. I am not cured (in fact, I had a minor attack yesterday), but I am dramatically better–even to the point of sweating.
My wife and I are undertaking a rigorous landscaping project for our house. We have planted 80 Leyland Cypress trees around the side and back of our house (got a great deal on eBay by the way), we have edged the grass for mulch, planted shrubs, bushes, and flowers, and much more. When we first started this, I was really itchy. I would have to take a break every few minutes to cool down. In fact, I sometimes got so hot that I became exhausted.
After about two days of this, I started to sweat. It felt fantastic too, and I missed it. The sweating got easier and easier, and the attacks got weaker each day. Eventually, I could walk outside and immediately sweat with no hives at all. I loved it!
Unfortunately, cholinergic urticaria is fickle. Just yesterday as I went to trim my lawn, I got a little prickly and itchy. I was a little aggravated because my push mower wouldn’t start, and I had to use my weedeater. The hives did pass away though, and I was soon sweating again. I guess it just wanted to remind me that it is still there lurking in the shadows. But I am really pleased with how well I have been able to manage it lately, and I am enjoying the summer already (and it isn’t even technically summer for a few more weeks!).
I think this may turn out to be the best summer I have experienced in a long time. I have been able to shop again, which is great. During the winter, I basically stopped shopping and I let me wife do it. But now I can do what I want, and it almost feels like I am cured or something. I am not looking forward to winter very much at this point.
