My name is Isaac, and I have been going through cholinergic urticaria for a year and a half now. I recently found out that I had several allergies. So I started the elimination diet, exercise 30 min a day, and I’m getting Xolair shots at 300mg every month.
So Hivesguy, I wanted to know if you have been able to add more foods. I know you eat turkey, white rice, maple syrup, sweet potato and other veggies, as well as banana, blueberry and strawberries. Since you’ve been cured, do you eat corn or anything?
I have cut out wheat, soy, sesame, maple, olives, processed meat, chips, peanuts, tree nuts, cakes, dairy, eggs, fruit snacks, brownies, candy and etc. The most processed food I eat is probably my vanilla Chex Mix gluten free. I just want to know again if you eat corn, and foods with sugar? What are the current foods you eat now? Do you drink any tea or anything?

Thanks for your question, Isaac. For the most part, I eat the foods you mentioned above (turkey, sweet potatoes, broccoli, rice, strawberries, blueberries, bananas). That’s my regular “safe” diet. I also take a probiotic (the current one is acidophilus, but I switch between that and Culturelle, Digestive Advantage, and others), as well as a multivitamin (and sometimes a calcium supplement). I also work out.
I do sometimes eat other foods and rotate them out, but to keep the hives at bay, I have to stay strict on my “clean” diet, especially in the winter. In the summer I can be slightly more liberal with how many snacks I eat (and how often), but I have to watch it. If I start getting prickly, I cut it out.
For example, if I eat gluten-free tortilla chips, I’m usually okay so long as I back off and don’t eat them again for a few weeks. I’ve also eaten other foods such as fruit rollups, chicken, potato chips (Lays Stax original), craisins, apples, spinach, corn, salad (lettuce, turkey, vinaigrette), etc.
The key is that I stay on my clean diet, and occasionally have a splurge day with one or two of the foods I mentioned above. I then eat clean again for a 2-3 weeks and rotate my splurge foods.
I don’t know why, but I have an extremely sensitive immune system. Eating most processed foods causes almost immediate problems for me: stomach pain/bloating, itchy bumps/eczema, and heat hives. I’m not sure why I can only eat a handful of foods with no issues, but it is very frustrating.
I stay far away from wheat, dairy, nuts, any tomato-based foods (chili, spaghetti sauce, etc.), and stuff with a crazy ingredient list or high level of processing. However, every person may have a different food sensitivity, so it helps to pay close attention to how each food affects you. A journal may help as you experiment.

Thank you so much for responding. I appreciate it. God bless you. I feel like I’m getting close to being cured. How long did your elimination diet and exercise take?
Hivesguy says
3-5 weeks.

Hivesguy you may have a leaky gut, which you can heal, and if that works you could eat more without problems

Thanks for your suggestion.
