Mine started April 2015, when I moved to Nevada. I blamed it on bed bugs in this old motel, but since I found this site I know now that wasn’t the case.
Before I moved in I stayed in a shelter and got food poisoning.
Anyone could name many reasons for the cause. I’m 62 and had hot flashes for twelve years. I should be done you’d think, but they still coming hot and heavy.
So in my case these could be the cause:
- Prolonged hot flashes.
- Parasites from food poisoning. (several times)
- Prolonged use of antihistamines, (for insomnia)
- Prolonged use of various supplements.
- Mastication from other allergies.
- My hand are by far the most intense symptoms with severe itching stinging and pain. Then it goes up my arms and back. It’s all above the waistline.
- Every time I have a hot flashes, so eating triggers hot flashes so I haven’t enjoyed a meal without itching since the onset. Summer weather of course triggers hot flashes. It wouldn’t be so bad if I could get over the hot flashes.
What I do for relief:
- Rinse in shower every other day,( use soap twice week)
- I use Olivine therapeutic cool mint tee tree soap, (Amazon) its really strong but can be diluted.
- Stay out of the heat or if possible move to a cool climate.
- Hope it goes away.
I hope these suggestions helps you.
Thanks,
Linda

Hi Linda,
I am surprised to hear that at your age you have CU. I would see a doctor just to make sure because that’s way beyond the ages that this affliction usually hits people.

I think maybe it was the food poisoning and environmental I didn’t have it until I moved to Las , I read that parasites can cause it, I had other allergies and I remember when I was taking omega three fish oil my hands started itching but no hives or rash. Same for my back, it itched for years but I never had any hives on it.

Update…
I’ve been taking Garcinia Cambodia and see a tremendous relief, while taking it I got sick (flu like symptoms) developed a abscess (boil) top of groin on leg, in I ‘ve had boils before, nothing like this, when it finally drained after about a week, it drain for two weeks, I’ve been a lot better, hardly have any itching stinging. I still have the disorder though, Coffee aggravated it, so I have to watch that,
One weird symptom that I forgot to mention is “chills” even in hot weather, like heat exhaustion but it’s not heat exhaustion so I wonder if any one else has this strange symptom.

Honestly, I’m not surprised it happened after 60. I think there’s a correlation between CU and menopause/hormonal changes. I’m ftm transgender and started testosterone last year, and 6 months later, at the same exact time I stopped having a cycle, I developed CU.
