It’s been about a year now that I have been getting extremely swollen eyes. It it all started with hot showers. I thought I was allergic to my shampoos or body products first.
After taking a shower my eyes would swell up really badly like an allergic reaction, and at times they would turn really dark, as if someone had punched my eyes. I would take a piriton to reduce the swelling. My doctor gave me fexofenodine 180mg, so now I take these when I’m faced with a reaction. But the swelling takes a few says to completely disappear.
Recently, I went on holiday and during mid day we were walking a lot and my eyes became extremely swollen. They were swollen from top to bottom and I could barely keep the eyes open. It was scary!
Now I realize in really hot weather when I’m doing a physical activity such as gardening my eyes swell up again quite badly.
This is really affected the quality of my life. I have a holiday booked in two months, I feel like cancelling it, because it will involve group activities and be based outside in the sun.
I’m looking to get married soon, but just think is there even a point my potential spouse may no longer want to consider me when he realizes I get these random swollen eyes every month or so!
Is anyone else facing similar symptoms of swollen eyes?

My wife’s eyes used to swell a few years ago. If she scratched them, they’d swell. If she’d cry, they’d swell. When she removed her mascara, they’d swell. She also suffered from horrible seasonal allergies, gallbladder pain, heartburn, and so on.
Eventually, she discovered that it was the food she was eating. I’d say there is a very high probability that your eating something (or several things) that is causing your immune system to become hypersensitive. It could be something you’re putting on your face, too, but I’d start with food.
You might want to talk to your doctor about going on an elimination diet, or at the very least, consider cutting out the major allergens in your diet for a month or so, such as fish, soy, dairy, nuts, wheat / gluten, etc.
My wife was not eating anything new, yet those foods suddenly caused her major issues. She eats no dairy, wheat, fish, and very rarely nuts, and she NEVER gets swollen eyes.
