Hey guys. This is an update to my first appearance on this forum (My Hellish Experience with Cholinergic Urticaria (17-Year-Old))
Doctor finally prescribed me with antihistamines, Zyrtec and Kestine. Last week was the first week of taking them. I am taking my time experimenting with them. First week I used 1x Zyrtec in the morning every day, and now on the second week I’m taking 1x Zyrtec in the morning, 1x Kestine before bed.
But I don’t know if this is just a coincidence, but when I started adding Kestine, the following day my itching became more intense instead of reducing it, strange.. Anyways, I can’t tell you if the itching has gone better from the drugs because I’m too afraid and trying to avoid getting warm, so I don’t get the itching, but when it does happen, I feel better, at least a little bit. I also don’t get itching in situations that I used to, so that’s a big plus.
Have any of you ever tried Kestine? Maybe I should just stick to Zyrtec and just increase the dose to 2x a day?
Another thing that I’m concerned with is this: since my cholinergic urticaria came to me during the ending of autumn and starting of winter, I do hope that it is seasonal and it will go away after the winter, but there is also a chance that it will not, so.. I wanted to ask you guys something. For all of you, who have seasonal cholinergic urticaria, what month does it usually go away at? May? Earlier? Later?
Also, what concerns me the most in this case is that exams are coming soon, in ~May, and right now since it’s winter and if I can’t avoid getting warm and end up getting itching I can just open the window anywhere or run outside and cold weather instantly kills the itching, but in spring/summer, if it doesn’t go away and it’s like 25 C outside (77 Fahrenheit) I will need a slightest change in temperature and the itching will go crazy. Isn’t that how it’s going to be?
My question to those who have the hives in the summer too is, how do you cope with it? I mean I’m afraid to even think about it. I won’t be able to leave my house 😀
Thank you guys!

Hi Tomas,
Those of us who have seasonal CU, get relief during the summer. In my case I sweat without itching. Usually from May to about early October I’m good. Now that it is winter I recently joined a gym that has a sauna. I’m able to sweat with the use of it and then I’m able to workout and stay symptom free.
This is what works for me.

If you wanna feel okay for your exams you gotta start seating. Fight it.
Use a sauna or something

You’ve gotta start sweating*

I’m in the same boat as you, it started October and is still going on now. I have had mild CU in past winters (I didn’t know back then) and nothing in the summers so here’s hoping…
