I recently caught wind of an interesting new reality television show that will be taking place in the UK: Survivor, the disabled version!
That’s right, it is just like survivor in the US, but with disabled contestants (and it is apparently a spoof). Odd, yes, but it also sounds interesting. What is even more interesting is that there is apparently a Cholinergic Urticaria sufferer on board for the show! Yah! Finally we get some more press on our condition. I would absolutely love to see this show with a guy like me =).
Jack Thorne is a playwright that suffers with cholinergic urticaria. He has scripted episodes of Skins and Shameless, and is now doing this. So it is pretty cool in my opinion to have some much needed attention called to our condition. It is also cool that Jack hasn’t allowed CU to stop him from having a (semi) normal and (semi) famous life. Great job Jack!
Some Personal Updates
Well all has been going pretty well recently. I have been so incredibly busy. My wife and I love our house (still), and I have been really busy remodeling and decorating. Thus far I have painted 2 rooms from top to bottom, built a new computer desk & stained it, built some nightstand tables, and countless other minor repairs and touch-ups.
My hives have been a little more intense recently, mostly because of the intense temperature changes (from cold to hot), but I have been managing them the best I can. At least it is cooler now, and my house gets nice and cool (around 55 degrees). So while I am at home I generally avoid attacks. Cholinergic urticaria at least saves me some money on the heat bill…hehe.
I did have a great Thanksgiving, and I hope you all did as well. I always love the holidays, and I can’t wait until Christmas. I am a Christmas-holic. I listen to Christmas songs all day, love watching Christmas movies (home alone, Christmas vacation, Rudolf, etc.) and so much more (and yes, I do realize that sounds a little bit geeky for a man my age to admit that).
Since moving in here, I have basically taken a hiatus from blogging, and business in general to get some stuff done on the house. In fact, I feel as if I am a full-time carpenter/construction worker, and my wife is the boss (but a good boss).
I have also kind of hit one of those crossroads in my business, and I am evaluating each portion of it (both the blogging and even re-considering getting back into online retail). I sometimes struggle with decisions because I really analyze them in extraordinary detail (making pro/con lists, calculating costs, etc.).
One thing that is certain is that the hives certainly influence how I live my life, and in all of my decisions it seems as if I find myself including my hives into the equation. Not only does it deeply affect my career, but it also affects my daily habits, shopping habits, and more. I even find myself going to a different Walmart because they consistently keep the temperature cooler than the other one. Ah well.
Anyway, I am thinking that I am going to try and finish a couple of more small remodeling type things around the house, and then I am going to slow down and try to ease back into business (and hopefully make a few important decisions in that area).
I hope everyone is having a happy (and hopefully hive-free) holiday season. I hope to put more updates in soon, and quite being so lazy when it comes to blogging. Till next time.
