My 15-year-old daughter has chronic urticaria. She’s had it for about four years now. Its seems to occur at its worst when in the winter.
A couple of times, including today, she’s tries to go for a short run with me (father). After one mile her ears felt cold, then her face, and she quickly came up with a rash, including 2 large swellings (thumb nail size) behind both ears.
I did take photos, which I would be willing to share on this forum if it helps. Last she even fainted on a short run. So now, when she exercises I always go with her. And she carries an Epi Pen.
If anyone has any insight or can offer advice i would be very grateful.
Thanks,
James

Is there a gym with a sauna near you?
For me it helps if I can get a good sweat going. Once I have a good sweat in the morning then I am usually fine for the rest of the day. (Talk to your doctor first to see if it’s safe for you).

Hi James!
I too like your daughter had my first CU breakout at a young age, mine was 13. At 21, after going to many doctors I have finally found an answer for what’s wrong with me! I’m so glad to finally have a name for what’s been bothering me for years and learn that I’m not the only one dealing with this. However, I really wish I was the only one, because I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. My CU only happens when I run, or am in hot/warm water (mostly showers). I’m pretty fit and workout almost every day, but I break out at least 60% of the time I run, making me stop. The only solution I’ve found so far is taking benadryl before I run. Drinking a minimum of a gallon of water a day is something I’ve also found to be helpful for me personally. It helps mostly because it helps me sweat more. I live in Florida, so I don’t have much advice on dealing with this in the cold..
Best of luck! I really hope your daughter is healed of this!
