Desensitization using purified sweat antigen

March 19, 2016 by Forum Member

I read about desensitization procedures using purified sweat antigen for cholinergic urticaria. I read that it’s the strongest cure for cholinergic urticaria with an 80% success rate.

Does anyone know if its done by dermatologist in the USA? I am very much ready to see any specialist who can do this.

Thanks,

-OJ

I just found out the NIH in Bethesda is doing research on cholinergic urticaria and is accepting volunteers if you leave nearby!

I meant “live” nearby. I am desperate for my 16 yo who plays tennis and breaks out in flushing and hives. Waiting to see if she is accepted to NIH.

I started breaking out in oct. am now to very little a few days a week now. creepy crawley is gone, I started taking zantac and zertag every day , now only twice a week. I started eating raw pumpking seeds and raw coconut every day to clean out my system I think this is what helped me.

Interesting! I wonder what a sweat antigen looks like. One would think that there are many complex antigens on the skin. Skin cells, mites, fungus and bacteria. Some of these may have viral particles integrated into them as well and even proteins from various foods, especially the more complicated proteins from animal products. Whatever the antigens are they will continue to be produced unless we eliminate them some way. Desensitized by added exposure? Maybe. Or hyper sensitized? Thanks for the information. Worth watching.

It’s called rapid desensitization by autologous sweat ie your sweat purified and only the antigens are injected into you. It follows the same theory as autologous blood and serum injection which drastically reduced my symptoms (did not cure me though) however for it to be very effective for you, there must be evidence that you have an auto immune response to whatever you are being desensitized to. For example, with peanut allergies, peanut extract is purified and the antigens are injected subcutaneously until there immune response is eliminated. Same with shrimp. For it to work for cholinergic urticaria, you have to have the subset where your body is allergic to your sweat ie sweat specific cholinergic urticaria. Not saying it won’t work at all, just saying it works better for people who have swear specific CU. As to who does this procedure I don’t know. Other than exercise, I’m not basically symptom free: I can shower, laugh, cough, get nervous, eat hot food, spicy food, etc. Best part, I didn’t need to pay a 500$ doctor copay or go to a pharmacy to feel moderately better.

*editor’s note: thanks so much for sharing this, but I removed the specific details because it carries various risks of blood clots and so forth and should not be performed without medical supervision.

After going to many doctors and nutritionists I finally found an Alternative Medicine Dr. who thinks I have C.U. after she did some research. I am not convinced. I have most of the symptoms everyone else has with itchy, prickly sensations. But I have never had Hives. Does anyone know if Hives are one of the required symptoms to be classified as having C.U.?
