8 Months on with No Change in Hives

March 10, 2017 by Forum Member

It has been eight months on with no change in my hives.

I still have hives and have become even more depressed.

Thanks,

Sorry to hear of your struggles. You didn’t mention what you’ve tried or how you’ve tried to treat your hives. Most people get the most relief from things like diet modification, sweat therapy, antihistamines (or combinations of certain kinds), and other things mentioned on this site. Any of those treatments could have risks, so it’s important to talk to a doctro to ensure that you’re properly diagnosed and that certain treatments will be safe for you.

I know it can be hard dealing with this condition, but don’t lose hope. There are things that can eliminate or reduce the severity of your hives. I strongly recommend that you keep working with a doctor to try different things to see what works best for you.

I did mention what I’ve tried on the post I submitted on here that’s not the full post I wrote just a snippet, not sure what happened why it’s not showing the whole post. Thanks for the advice. Will try to keep fighting.

Sorry to hear that. Only the title came through, so I had to re-post the title in the text area.

No worries. I’ve tried paleo dieting hardcore for months on end, tried sweat therapy, tried changing meds, I’ve prayed, none of it seems to have helped up to this point, feel like I’ve missed out on the best years of my life because of this I love and I could deal with that if I saw light at the end of the tunnel but cant see how anything is going to change it hasn’t improved in 13 years it’s been relentless physical and mental pain and I’m tired of trying so hard to be honest with no reward, I can’t do the things I love because of this condition I’ve lost relationships and connections with people because they don’t understand no matter how much I explain like why I’m so broken now they just don’t get it because they don’t have to live it. Knowing others like the good people on here are going through it, a small circle of people, and my dog, these are the only reasons I’m still here but without trying to sound ungrateful it’s not enough for me I feel like we all especially deserve more from life

I can sense your deep sadness and frustration. I’m really sorry that you’ve struggled so much, and I know exactly how you feel. I don’t think anything is as frustrating as cholinergic urticaria, and no one can understand the torture of it unless they’ve had it themselves. I’d often lay in bed and feel so hopeless, and I even hoped that I wouldn’t wake up because I was so sick of feeling incapable of doing things without breaking out in a stinging sensation. However, life can (and will) get better for you. Keep holding on.

Things could change for you next week, next month, or next year. You never know, but many people have been able to overcome this, and I think you will, too. Don’t give up on trying various things that people have reported on this site (always check with a doctor first, just to be safe).

The only other advice I can give you is to try to focus your efforts doing something you enjoy doing. Perhaps you could join other forums that discuss some interest of yours, or even start a vlog about it. Try to maintain a close relationship with that close circle of loved ones. Cry when you need to, and don’t stop praying.
I’ve also said a prayer for you.

I am experiencing the same situation. I lived in CT my whole life. I just moved to Virginia almost a month ago. After the first week I started to become very itchy and developed red bumps. It is still winter and cold at night so we heat the house with a wood burning stove. I usually get away with starting a fire at night time only. So I just assumed my skin was drying out due to the lack of moister in the air so started to use coconut oil but I continued to constantly itch. I live around old salt mines and i have been told there is a lot of iron in the water. Also I am getting the build up along my bath tub. I am convinced it’s the water that is causing me to constantly itch. And what I am experiencing could totally be hives.

I feel for you I really do, it’s a constant battle/struggle living with this, I’ve obsessed over so many different causes it could be that have only made me worse mentally I think, nothing I’ve done in 13 years has made a difference which is why I’m depressed now I guess. it has consumed my whole adult life so far and I don’t see how it’s going to change for me. Many People do find their cure though and I hope you find yours.

I am so sorry that your struggles with CU continue.

I recommend that you go back a few pages and read my lengthy, detailed, October 24, 2016 post on this forum. I was cured of CU by adopting a whole-food, plant-based (“vegan”) diet. Modern science is beginning to understand the mechanism as to why this works. CU is an autoimmune disorder. Eating a diet high in fiber serves to regulate the immune system, preventing it from overreacting. This solution is easy, it is inexpensive, and it works.

I see from your post that a Paleo diet did not work for you. Perhaps the fiber content was not high enough. I suggest gradually reducing some of the animal products in your diet and gradually ramping-up the fiber content.

I hope you find a solution which works for you. Hang in there!

I’ve had chronic hives for about 7 months (since Oct last year). Before, I had acute hives once every year (everytime lasted for about 3 days to 1 week and disappeared after I took Zyrtec). This time it was staying for months, everyday with coughing and indigestion (like something stuck in my chest).
After 2 blood tests, GPs couldn’t find the cause. Still on Zyrtec to control. It just lasted me 2 days at most. If I didn’t take it, all symtoms came back again. I was frustrated.
My best GP refered me to an allergist. But, as I read many online, they all said it would not work. And these specialists are expensive as well.
I have been on herb medicine (Chinese traditional medicine) for 2 weeks without taking Zyrtec and my symtoms are reducing and disappearing. This method asks for strict diet (no red meat and chicken (I eat pork only now), and avoid some types of vegies) and for your patience to cook it. I will keep taking this (my practioner recommended 3 to 4 months) to see how it goes and keep updating.
Hope that who are suffering from this CIU can find a solution for it. All the best!
    Tina
