Acupuncture Ineffective Against Cholinergic Urticaria

Acupuncture ineffective against cholinergic urticaria

Post by: Henrik on September 13, 2009, 05:24:05 AM

I would like to share my experiences with acupuncture with you. One year ago I tried acupuncture to manage my cholinergic urticaria. I had six sessions (with one or two weeks intervals) with an experienced licensed doctor who had specialized in acupuncture.

He had worked with acupuncture for 20 years or so, so I believe he was a quite competent practitioner. After the six sessions I still couldn’t feel any improvement, so I decided to end the treatment. So basically, I concluded that in my case acupuncture was ineffective against cholinergic urticaria.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share that experience with us Henrik. I haven’t tried it personally, but from what I have gathered on the web, it seems that most people say what you said: It helps barely or none at all, and doesn’t stop it.

So I agree with you that it probably isn’t worth the cost and hassle for most cholinergic urticaria people to deal with acupuncture.

Thanks again for sharing that!

Hello all.

I recently tried acupuncture as well for my hives. I’ve had Cholinergic Urticaria for 5 years now & just wanted a “cure”. However, after around 10 sessions, that lasted for a couple of months, and herbal supplements, I concluded that the acupuncture was not working for me. I saw very few, if any changes. I discontinued treatment because my insurance didn’t cover it & it was $50/session. Had I seen any results, I would have continued.

My acupuncturist was also certified and I believe quite qualified. Ironically, after the treatments, I also now get hives on my feet when they’re extremely cold. I don’t know if that is a coincidence or not.

I hope it does work for someone else.

Hi..its Daria again..i had my first acupuncture treatment yesterday for my hives.. I cannot report any changes yet but I do want to throw this option out there because acupuncture has been used for many different ailments & for many years..If any of you feel like you are at a dead end as far as doctors & treatments & medication goes.. i suggest you try this..I probably shouldve done this long ago because i am against precriptions even though with my hives i have been desperate..i am very positive this will heal me finally..i will be back to update you on my treatment..in the meantime, Good luck everyone!

Hey Daria,

I hope this helps some. I know that others have tried it and didn’t seem to have much of an impact. But maybe it will give you some comfort. Let us know how it goes, and I pray that your hives get better soon!

Don’t give up, and hang in there. I feel that you will get this under control soon. It may take you some time, but it will happen.
