I thought I should share my success story suffering with an extreme case of Cholinergic Urticaria for over 20 years, which has prevented me from living my life to the full. Most of you know the misery it can cause so I wont waffle on.
Two months ago, after a bit of research, I asked the doctor to prescribe me Montelukast tablets (10mg). These are a Leukotriene receptor antagonist commonly used to treat children’s asthma with barely any side effects. The results were immediate: the next day I had 3 outbreaks but the visible hives had reduced to the point they could barely be seen.
After a few days, I still got the sensation that I was having an outbreak but the hives were not visible at all (mine were always incredibly large, fierce and everywhere including my face). There is one downside: I do still get the sensation of having an outbreak, although the itching is not as bad as it was.
If you haven’t tried these tablets I would highly recommend you ask your doctor about them. I tried every antihistamine, and none of them worked at all.
This will be the first summer I can enjoy since I was a child!
Best of luck,
Dazman

Dazman,
Thanks so much for taking the time to share that with everyone. I’m glad to hear that your hives have become better with this treatment. I hope they continue to do well!

Yeah I was prescribed with Propranolol and now my CU is way weaker than before. I still get sensations but I no longer get “tortured” from it. And from what I read that medicine did the same job that Propranolol did for me. But I still wouldn’t call it a cure since we still get sensations which means it isn’t completely gone.
