Update: I have made a breakthrough with Cholinergic Urticaria

May 7, 2016 by Forum Member

I submitted a comment earlier this week saying how my cholinergic urticaria completely went away once the weather got hot. It is now the end of the week, and my symptoms have stayed away. A couple of times I did feel a little itchy on my neck but nothing that hindered my ability to do whatever I was doing.

I went golfing today in 25+ degree Celsius weather and didn’t have a single reaction. I went to the gym for the first time in months yesterday and felt amazing. I hope I am cured for good.

To all the people out there suffering with this condition, stay strong and try everything you can to better yourself, because the feeling in the end is amazing. I never felt like I would get rid of this condition but the day is finally here that I get my life back.

Also, thank you hivesguy for creating this site. It’s been enormously beneficial to me.

Thanks,

Alex

    Thanks for update alex.

My opinion: You must go to gym every week until winter comes. Let’s see what will happen in winter.

I’m gonna try it. Just waiting for the summer.

It’s your first summer with your CU? What happen in summer last year?

I didn’t have CU last summer. My symptoms started in late September/October when the weather started to get cooler. I guess we will see what happens in the fall.

Hello everyone, I have read all your info thoroughly. I have taken my now 10month old baby to the doctor/ER/ dermatologist at least once per week since birth because I’m frustrated and they keep giving me different diagnosis. I believe she has CU.. Please help, can a biopsy confirm this? What can I do to help my baby? She has broke out in rashes on the trunck of her body since birth. Every time she gets fussy or mad or eats certain foods (foods that are negative for food allergy). They cause swelling and resemble bug bite or heat rash. I know the cycle ( cry, throw tantrum, or get in a crowed high stimuli place RASH). I have very little info on bio mom but she did mention stess causes her neck to burn and get red patches on both sides. I have seen bio mothers neck flaming red up both sides during a stressful event. Could my daughter have inherited this? She’s miserable with hives almost always:(

I believe I have CU also, but mine is mainly on my face as far as the prickly and itchy feeling but my arms face and neck get red also. Every time I sweat or my body temperature rises. Also I can not wear makeup anymore because it aggravates my condition. My face also looks like I have rosacea most of the time even when I’m not hot, but as soon as I get hot or sweat my face and arms get so red like I have a sunburn and my face gets prickly and itchy, but not my arms they just get red. Also I sweat profusely from the top of my head to the face and neck and arms and I mean dripping sweat. Also after I get out of the shower I get red and sweaty and my body is hot, it takes like 30 minutes to cool down. And last summer I went swimming a lot and of course I got red and my face would get a little prickly and itchy only when I would get out and sweat. But something else I noticed was that my face had blotches of skin that would not tan. Especially on my forehead and there was nothing blocking the sun from those spots. I am at my wits end. Also I seem to get hot a lot more than most people. I sweat easily and profusely. I am over weight also. But even when I was younger before I lost the weight it wasn’t this bad, so after gaining the weight back it seems way worse. Does anyone else sweat more than normal with CU also, or is that just me? And what kind of diet or other things are supposed to help, you have said diet and things but not anything specific.

Also in my experience the symptoms I have are year round. As long as my body temperature rises but especially when I sweat.

Hi Micki, I have the exact same symptoms as you do. My CU just started 8 months ago. I also sweat all the time, dripping from the top of my head down my neck and arms. Nothing is working. I am now trying fish oil 2 in am and 2 in pm. It is an antiinflammatory and doctor says that one ultimately dies of inflammation of something in the end. I have had less sweating since taking fish oil and the itch has lessened also. This is after taking fish oil for 3 weeks! I am feeling hopeful now! Only time will tell. Will keep everyone updated!

I think i may have finally found a name for what has been happening to me tha last 3 years. I have grown up with eczema. On my arms legs and neck. About 3 years ago something started attaching my face. All the skin around my lips and around my eyes would turn bright red and get scaley and really chapped and my face would feel like it was on fire. Went to 3 dermatologists and they kept telling my it was eczema, they would listen to me that this was nothing like what I grew up with. When I get hot or my body temperature raises then it like an attack on my face. I am fine in the winter, as soon as it starts getting in the 70’s. Then it is a continual breakout. My face feels like it is on fire. And it almost looks like 2nd degree burns. When i get hot, around my lips get red and skin cracks and looks like dead skin and peals off like a burn. I can go through several layers like that in one day. When my dr. Gave me predizone for something else. It cleared up right away then came back as soon as it was out of my system. Does this sound like what everyone else has. Thanks for your response. Julie in pain.

I have hives for the second time in my life. I’m 58. The drugs that work are prednisone and Benadryl, but prednisone is dangerous and they don’t like to give it to you. Tylenol, zyrtec benedryl and zantac all work different ways. Ask your dr about kenelog or other shot for allergies. It will pass (I HOPE!) but this is the longest I’ve had it -4 months. As soon as I stop the drugs the hives are back immediately. Good luck. Ask your dr about xolair for hives.
