Candida tongue treatment question

August 8, 2014 by Hivesguy

Hi Hivesguy,

I stumbled across your blog attempting to find a solution to the Candida alibicans infection I have had on my tongue for 6 years and saw your post referring to a similar problem you had. Likewise, I believe it is a result of the anti-biotics I have taken over that period of time.

Could you elaborate further on what exactly you did to get rid of it? Or if I have managed to overlook your advice already on this website, could you please enlighten me?

I also wanted to find out if you were prescribed an oral pill similar to “NYSTATIN (500,000ui)” that you must take 3 times a day for approximately 20 days? If not, could you briefly compare the drug you took with nystatin and comment on whether they are similar? …. The reason I ask is because I was prescribed this drug and after 7 days my tongue has gotten worse.

I have since stopped taking it for 5 days and am now considering jumping back on it. I have also cut all gluten/wheat out of my diet to see if that helps and to this point it has not.

I appreciate there are people like yourself that set up websites like this for the purpose of helping others. Thank you so much.

Kind Regards,
Marty

    Hello, Marty.

Thanks for your question. First, I’d just point out that it is quite normal to have a bit of Candida on the tongue as a part of the natural flora. Also, my tongue wasn’t covered in white, it just had a small amount and where I zoomed in with the camera it made it look worse than what it was in person.

Back in 2009, I was desparately trying to find what caused my hives. I’d read so many articles on “Candida” that I thought it may be the culprit. I tried anti-Candida diets, and they didn’t help. I also tried to take Diflucan. I don’t remember the dosage but it is an anti-yeast/anti-candida drug, and I took it about a week or so (if I recall correctly).

It seemed to make my tongue slightly better, but not much, as it wasn’t that bad to begin with. I just thought that perhaps I did have a Candida infection in my stomach or something, and that could have been the cause of my hives.

As it turns out, Candida had exactly zilch to do with my hives/stomach problems. Brushing my tongue with the toothbrush more solved the problem with it on my tongue. I’ve also heard that apple cider vinegar can help with it.

From what I understand, severe Candida infections are very rare, and they tend to only happen in people with serious immune system problems (such as HIV/AIDS or treatments with certain medications). I’m not sure if you’ve talked with a doctor, but I’d definitely do so before taking any medications.

I’m not sure if the above helped you any, but I hope you can get your problem solved soon.

    God bless,
    Hivesguy
