Cautious Diet

Hi everyone. Firstly I’d like to thank hivesguy/ Ben for the site- it’s been a really useful and uplifting resource.

So, I would say I’m nearer to cured than ever before. My diet alterations, running exercises, and alternating between one 5mg Levocetirizine and one 180mg Fexofenadine every other day is the closest I’ve got to being free of the condition.

So my diet is in summary: low oil/ salt, zero gluten, zero dairy, zero eggs, and is mainly whole foods (no preservatives / flavouring).

However, since going gluten free and have always enjoyed gluten free oats in cereals and porridge and all other gluten free products with oats. So my diet has never been grain free.

My question to anyone with experience: Do you think it’s worth going “grain free” and excluding oats too, in an attempt to push the last bit of this horrible condition out of my life?

I know avenin (protein in oats) is very similar to gluten (protein in wheat, barley and rye), and I’ve heard some coeliacs still react to oats. What are your thoughts? Thanks a lot.

    Thanks for sharing! Oats have always caused me to break out in itchy bumps on my elbows and fingers. The only grain I eat is white rice. Thanks again, and I hope your hives go away 100%.

    Oat free is worth a try. Half the world’s population use white rice as a staple of the diet with little or no other grains and they are some of the healthiest people in the world. Why not try it? Your other dietary changes are excellent and will lengthen your life and prevent most of the worst diseases.

    I just read an Article that nickle is causing lots of skin allergies Never thought about before. I am going to look more into it.

    I’m also eating gluten free, how long did it take for you to see any improvement?

    It’s been a year since I went gluten free, (so I can only guess) but I think it was around 2-3 weeks before I felt the full improvement effect.

    Bare in mind when you first go gluten free it’s quite difficult to control. Read the ingredients of everything you eat, because gluten is hidden in so many unexpected food items :).

    What would you eat in the morning if you replaced oats? Would like to know since it’s currently the only thing I can eat in the morning aside from chicken and rice and can hardly find anything that isn’t made from grain

    Try beans, seeds, corn, buckwheat, potatoes and sweet potatoes. Also have brown rice instead of white rice because it contains much more fibre.

    I have baked beans and a sweet potato for breakfast, brown rice and chicken for lunch and vegetables and fish for dinner. Daily snacks are bananas and grapes.
