Cheesy hives?

September 5, 2014 by Hivesguy

Hey guys,

So as hivesguy predicted, I’ve been feeling little or no relief from the liver cleanse, but I do think I had a major breakthrough today. It was a rainy day, windy, which oddly (not for us cholinergic urticaria people) I was pretty excited about.

So I went into my university’s cafeteria and got a sort of chicken and mushrooms and lots and lots and lots and loooots of cheese, now 2 minutes after I was done with it I was breaking out with hives from head to toe, I felt dizzy, and hot, but why??? It was a very special rainy day for me!

Now as I mentioned before, I’ve been suffering from my eczema my whole life. I’ve tried everything and among those various things I underwent treatment with an allergist, this ended up nowhere in terms of my eczema. This is why I have been so reluctant to go to an allergist with cholinergic urticaria.

Now, what he did say was that I tested positive for lactose allergies. But since my eczema didn’t get any better or worse I’ve just ignored that this whole time….I’ve been thinking about trying to give up on dairy because ever since I have CU I’ve been getting tiny hives around my eyes whenever I eat something with cheese, but I’ve always convinced myself its not the dairy, maybe just a sudden change in the temperature, or trying to blush, but today it was different because I always sense when the temperature beings to get a tad too much for me. Today it was nice and chilly, so here I go, ridding my life of lactose and dairy and hopefully these darned hives.

Wish me luck everyday! Lots of positive energy–lets fill this blog with more discoveries and recovery testimonies!

-Sandy

    Sandy,

Sorry about the bad hives attack, but I’m really glad that you have possibly pinpointed an issue with milk. I also like your positive attitude. Sometimes, having a positive attitude is the most important part.

All I can say is that I know that food sensitivities can be a tricky issue. My advice would be to give any food removal experiment at least 3-4 weeks to see the full effects. If you notice they get dramatically better–but not totally better, you may have other food sensitivities.

Keep us updated on how things go. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
