Chocolate Cause Cholinergic Urticaria?

I am a VERY passionate chocolate eater, and it’s probably ranked on my #1 favourite thing to eat. However, last week i noticed whenever i eat chocolate, I try to sweat, especially on my scalp and face. It feels like my head just heats up, and before I know it Im over the threshold and itching occurs all over my head. >:(
So for the past week, I’ve kept a record of what happens to me when I eat chocolate, and the results are very consistent.
Now I’m deciding to cut chocolate out of my diet altogether to see what happens in terms of my Cholinergic Urticaria.
Does anyone else have this feeling while eating something in particular like chocolate?

Well, I just notice that when I eat foods that upset my stomach (dairy, excessive processed foods, etc.), that my hives go way up in intensity. It is like they go crazy and every little thing makes me itchy. But then, when I back off foods for a while, and start eating really healthy, they seem to calm down quite a bit.
So I have definitely noticed that food can seem to make a big difference in the level of intensity of the hives. However, so far avoiding certain foods has never cured it :'(. But I do agree with you that some foods may make us more reactive or something.

Have an allergy test if you suspect chocolate (or an ingredient of) to be your trigger.

ALLERGY TEST Costs a lot!
It’s on of the first things I think anyone with Cholinergic Urticaria should do. Might cost a little money, but for the number of factors eliminated it’s worth it.

I’ve been eating A LOT of sugary foods lately (due to parties and events where I have no control over what’s in the food) and I did notice my hives getting more intense and covering more area after my workouts. I usually am a no carb/sugar guy and haven’t had hives this bad in a while. The years my hives were the worst were when I was still a regular soda drinker and didn’t workout come to think of it.

sugary things in excess always make my hives worse. healthy, clean eating (BORING and kind of taxing) keeps me the most even-keeled. i also avoid sugary alcohol (margaritas, champagne, etc.) because i tend to have terrible hives the following day.

I think being relaxed helps avoid outbreaks, maybe sugar makes Cholinergic Urticaria worse because it makes you less relaxed?
