Cholinergic Urticaria and Puberty?

July 10, 2015 by Forum Member

Hello,

I was curious to know if going through puberty can affect or create Urticaria?

If anyone knows, please reply. It would be great to know. I’m curious to why people get Cholinergic Urticaria out of nowhere.

Can puberty cause an Urticaria?

Thanks,

-Jake Sal

Yes, hormonal changes can definitely impact cholinergic urticaria. For example, women who become pregnant may notice an increase in symptoms. Taking hormones (steroids, birth control, etc.) can also affect symptoms.

It’s difficult to say if it causes it directly, but I’ve read of cases when the onset occured during a hormonal change (either taking hormone pills or becoming pregnant). However, the average age of onset for cholinergic urticaria is during the late teens or early 20’s, long after most people have hit puberty.
