Cholinergic Urticaria Entertainment, Media, and Jokes

Cyanide and Happiness is such a funny comic. I thought you’d might appreciate this small piece of humour.

This one is particularly funny. Yay for puns!

P.S I can’t seem to the original comic on the C&H website so I’ve found it on another webpage but i’ll still give the link for the original C&H website.

Lol,

That was pretty good. Breaking into hives–I like that. It is always good to be able to laugh about this stuff. Without humor we would all go crazy!

I realised that if a group of us got together and had a reaction at the same time it would be embarrassingly hilarious šŸ˜€

Title: “Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead”

Is the name of the movie that deals with Urticaria. I watched it on Netflix the other day and Joe Cross (Main guy) has the condition of Urticaria. He is overweight, doesn’t eat well, and lives in Australia. He explains that he can die from it and it has been affecting him severely. He has visited numerous doctors but they have not helped. He has taken countless pills to help him but he is now sick of it. He decides to go on a Juice diet for 60 days.

It will not only help him lose weight but will make his Urticaria go away. On his journey he meets a truck driver who has the same condition. He tells the truck driver to contact him if he wants to try the diet. A couple of months later, he receives a phone call from him. He flies back to America and puts him on the diet after consulting a doctor. The truck driver is cured after 60 days. This may or may not be helpful. The only problem I see is people having problems staying on the diet and maybe affording it. I believe it can help. Please respond to this post with any comments or concerns!

@baseball, the name of the movie is the title of the post: Fat, sick, and nearly dead. It was on netflix if you have that, but I’m not sure if it is still available on Instant.

Hey nice post. I saw this movie before christmas so I asked for a breville juicer lol. My hives aren’t cured but I noticed when I started juicing my hives felt an improvement. I had more energy and felt healthier. Now when I juice it’s usually beats and apples.

Doesn’t taste amazing but makes you feeling great! Also it takes seconds to make. I also heard beats are really good for your skin and helps your body use less oxygen. So when you run you don’t feel so out of breath and you can go longer and harder. It’s amazing. Getting a juicer is definitely worth it and helps you to learn about different vegetables and their health benefits. Also it forces you to eat better. CHEERS

Guys don’t forget its just a movie and my guess is that the objective of that movie was to transmit a message of perseverance rather than revealing a cure, don’t belive everything u see šŸ˜›

Title: Cholinergic Urticaria featured on Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies (UK)

Post by: Vanquish on April 13, 2012, 10:24:31 AM

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on the forum, which I have found to be an invaluable source of information and comfort over the course of this hellish, inexplicable year. Hopefully this is the right section and hasn’t been posted already.

Not only is this terrible affliction disabling and undignified, its relative obscurity makes the endless trips to the doctors or explaining to people for the umpteenth time why my body’s broken out in an unsightly rash a tedious experience.

For this reason, I found it depressingly refreshing (and darkly humourous) to see MY horribly debilitating disease featured on Embarrassing Bodies last week! Now, I find the show to be exploitative, voyeuristic titillation at the best of times, but it was nonetheless welcome to see Cholinergic Urticaria getting some exposure on primetime TV. And the advice given might actually be useful to some people.

The particular episode can be found at the following link:

You’ll have to contend with YouTube’s annoying adverts and have the latest Flash player. Be warned: the show routinely features nudity/medical procedures, so I do hope I’m not breaching the rules by posting this here.

Thanks,

Vanquish
