I started getting heat rashes when I was about 16. I went to the doctor and then a specialist and he said I had cholinergic urticaria. I have been taking Allegra and Pepcid every day since then and my symptoms got better and basically disappeared since then.
I am 24 now and my wife and I had our first son just a few months back. As it is summer here, we have been noticing rashes that look like cholinergic urticaria on him. Has anyone had children that have gotten this?
Can it be inherited? Also I forgot to mention that my twin brother started showing symptoms of cholinergic Urticaria about when he was 18. That is where my suspicion that it can be inherited comes from.

Hi, Ben.
There is some evidence that individuals in families with a history of allergies may be more likely to get allergies, hives, etc. A few people have commented on a relative having cholinergic urticaria, so there may be a small link. However, it doesn’t seem to have a very strong genetic link, meaning a person with Cu is not guaranteed to pass it on.
My son has shown no traces whatsoever of having it so far. He’s only 18 months old now. The thing you have to keep in mind about infants/toddlers is that they tend to get a lot of random rashes. My son was very sensitive to anything but breastmilk for the first 6-8 months of his life, and we pretty much had to feed him that exclusively, or else he’d get bumps or a rash. Over time, we could feed him more foods without that happening. Now, he can eat most anything without rashes or bumps forming.
So you may want to consider what you’re feeding him, or if you’re putting any kind of lotion on him.

Hello Ben,
speaking of my CU, my Grandpa had it and then my mother had it right after she got married, and I have it since i was 14 and now I am almost 26 and still have it, and so as my sister who’s 28.
so i am guessing , yes, chances are bigger to have it if it exists in your family before.
so sorry about your baby. and hope it gets better for every one.

I have a question. All of you that are suffering from this condition, what type of water do you use at home? Is your water hard water? Please respond. I am trying to get to the bottom of this.
Deborah says
Yes, we have extremely hard water.

I am just wondering if that may have something to do with this condition. Because there are all sorts of minerals & other opponents included in hard water. I want to hear from others as well

Actually, I don’t know what hard water is, but i use tap water like every one.
