Cured My Cholinergic Urticaria (Heat Hives) with Cooler Showers?

December 26, 2015 by Forum Member

Ok, so after dealing with cholinergic urticaria for over 2 years, trying things from sweat therapy to wearing a sweater, all the time I think I’ve stumbled across why this really happens to me:  moisture.

I have come to believe that I developed cholinergic urticaria because of hot, long showers drying out my skin (preventing sufficient moisture). I started taking short, cool/warm showers with instant difference in skin feeling. I also went from using lotion to cream for a thicker coat.

I should also mention that I have dry skin due to eczema but have maintained it well. I hope this helps you all, for I know how irritating cholinergic urticaria can be.

Thanks,

Francisco

Hello. Thank you so much for sharing Francisco. I will try this technique because I always take long hot showers for relaxation purposes. At this point, I will try anything. Thank you.

Your welcome, i have noticed CU is more common in winter where skin tends to be more dry and people tend to take hotter showers i havent found any forums leading showers/baths to CU so i really push everyone who suffers from CU to give this a try the main key in my technique is Short cool showers and keep skin moisturized with body lotion or preferably cream

Wish you Luck please reply with results

Agreed, hot showers seem to make CU more troublesome, but also sometimes speculate that holiday foods and fungal growth on skin could be very antigenic.

In my opinion keeping myself warm with a heater and by using a heater helps me sweat. I believe when you sweat and do some cardio, CU really weakens. I only have minor CU on my hands.. Easy enough to control.

Sweating does help indeed, even though sweating relived the itching i would be dying of the feeling and still get red before actually breaking a sweat this is what pushed me to find another solution
