Dandelion root for cholinergic urticaria?

January 9, 2017 by Forum Member

In Fall 2015, I was in school in the Chicago area, a gym nearby closed during the fall which seemed to trigger my cholinergic urticaria due to a lack of sweat. During Nov, Dec 2015 my cholinergic urticaria was unbearable, especially in the heated indoors.

In early 2016 I started to retake dandelion root as a supplement. I take many supplements, but noticed that from Jan to June 2016 I had very little CU attacks despite me anticipating them in heated rooms and when surprised. At this time I did not attribute this to dandelion root.

In June 2016 I moved to a dry, mountain climate and my cholinergic urticaria came back. Attacks were intense and everyday. The initial time period to break a decent sweat during exercise was also unbearable, as soon as I broke a sweat I was OK for that day, if I sweat a lot it would make sweating the next day much easier and limit the severity of the attack. I also got an indoor portable sauna which I use before the gym, the first 10-13 minutes are painful until I am able to break a sweat.

In the past weeks I picked up some dandelion root, doing some research ‘dandelion root sweat’ benefits include increased sweating due to widening of the pores and also release of toxins from sweating and hormone regulation in water release. The time in the sauna to break a sweat is now less than 5 minutes, sweating much more, and no attacks in situations I would have (eating spicy food in a heated restaurant).

Dandelion root is very cheap and interested if others also get some benefits from it for cholinergic urticaria.

Thanks,

Brosh

I have also had a good experience with dandelion root. When I’m feeling really hot it has really helped me to cool down. I can take it with mint as well which is also helpful. In Chinese medicine they use dandelion to clear heat, clear toxic heat. If it has helped you I’m assuming your condition is more of a heat condition. If you look at your tongue it will most likely have a red tongue body ( red tongue in Chinese medicine shows heat in the body). I have had CU for 9.5 years now. I also have asthma and eczema and allergies. My issues are weak immune system and too much heat in my body. Hope we keep getting better. Peace.
