Do I have heat hives?

February 2, 2016 by Forum Member

Okay, so I’m not quite sure what I have–it’s just that when I get hot for any reason, I start getting itching all over my body. The itching is really bad, and I also get some minor itch on my scalp.

The itching is like a needle itch–a little prickly. But like others here I don’t get this while taking hot showers, just when my body temperature rises. Also the photos I have seen my heat hives are not like that, the photos looks way more intense.

I just get really light red patches which doesn’t last long. Do I have cholinergic urticaria?

It sounds like it could be heat hives (cholinergic urticaria), but a dermatologist or allergist familiar with the condition can officially diagnose you. Visible symptoms vary quite a bit for heat hives sufferers (some get hives, some don’t).

Hey. I’m S’pha Mnguni from south africa, firstly I wanna say I feel sorry for you, I personally had hives itchy and sting-prickly sensation for almost 6 years I thought, I had cholinergic until a colleague, refered me into a private lab and its only then I was told that I’ve always been living with “Candida Infection”. My so call Doc put me through a diet and that how I got cured, today Im living a happy life, I can walk in the sun, laught, do any excersise any body warming activity actually. Thank you to “Young man Luke Vesser for assisting through discovering a cure for me” Please I suggest you don’t shy away from the private labs where you can actually get test.
I hope you get better hang in there

I have been dealing with this for 4 yew as now. I get horrible hives and angioedema when I am in heated bldgs or in a home with fireplace going, It affects me so bad I panic like I can’t breathe and get very angry and have to get to air. If I’m outside in hot sun, live in south fl, I’m fine I get flush and overheated and sweat but it’s fine, same as showering and nervousness. I sweat flush and have red hives all over but isltch is contained and tolerable. But indoors with a stuffy dry heat I want to die, it’s so painfl and the angioedema I literally am sitting outside right now in North Florida in shorts and t shirt in 40° wether because the heat from fireplace is making me swell, itch like I’m being stung, and swelling up. I am not sire how this came about, I have no allergies but was found that I do have an autoimmune markers but they have not been able to figure out what it is so my autoimmune is untreated.
It’s nice to know I’m not the only one, and I am so tired of people thinking I’m just being bitchy.

    Hey Karen-

I don’t get this when taking hot showers either – water actually seems to help. I also don’t get bad hives – just like goosebumps and my hair stands on its end until I cool off then it goes away. I have found Zyrtec over the counter allergy medicine helps somewhat.
