Hi,
I’ve had an unusual rash on my back for just over 2 months now. When I am in a cold environment (air conditioning), I feel no symptoms and my skin looks a normal colour. But as soon as I move into a hot area and my sweat glands start, I experience intense prickling and a red rash appears. This has now moved over my face and neck and parts of my trunk.
I have noticed that the skin (particularly on my back) has thinned, and there is some clear damage to the skin. It is wrinkly and I can see the varicose veins through the skin. I am 38 so not that old, but the skin has definitely thinned quite a lot.
Is this a normal symptom of Cholinergic Urticaria. Have others experienced this thinning skin symptom?

Hello Neil,
I never noticed skin thinning. My skin would often be dry, but I can’t say that I noticed it thinning. The two could be unrelated. I know that some medications, especially corticosteroid cream, can cause thinning of the skin. If you are concerned, you may want to check with a doctor to make sure you don’t have some issue going on that can cause that.
Has anyone else on this forum noticed thinning of the skin with CU?

Yes , persistent use of corticosteroids can cause thinning of skin and disappearance
of body hair in the affected area. I have personally experienced this phenomenon.
