My son has had Cholinergic Urticaria for 2.5 yrs. He has also had a chronic and off cough. I also have the same chronic cough.
I had an endoscopy and they took tissue samples. It was positive for this H.Pylori. And guess what? Studies have shown that H.Pylori and chronic urticaria are linked!!!
I had my son tested and positive!! Read this here (scroll down for the skin part): http://www.dermnetnz.org/bacterial/h-pylori.html

I had h.pylori about a year before my symptoms started but was out on treatment to eradicate it. After the H. Pylori was treated though Inhad 2 horrible bouts of scabies with no clue as to where it came from.

If the h.pylori caused my CU I wonder why it didn’t start until right after the scabies?

I have also had H. Pylori. And it was about a year before I got CU. I wonder if this is a link. It would be interesting to see how many people on this forum have had H. Pylori.

So Angel, did you get the H. Pylori cleared up? And did your CU go away?

My son is soon to start the H.Pylori anti-biotic process. In 6 weeks they do a breath test to see if the bacteria is gone. Apparently it is a tough double-walled bacteria. 🙁 I will keep you all posted as to what then happens to the CU. I so hope it goes away. I guess it is possible that once the immune response was triggered it can be difficult to stop it even if the H.Pylori is killed. I hope not. I am so hopeful. I am going to throw a party if this CU goes away. I would take it from him and bear that for him if I could. To all you suffering from this CU you have my utmost respect for facing this, dealing with it and not giving up hope.

Any antigenic bacteria or virus overload can potentially cause hives. Logical? H. Pylori is highly suggestive of the need for a change in diet. Diet affects the microbiome significantly including pathogenic “bugs.” Diet can have a dramatic effect on the pH and other environmental factors in the gut. Look to the diet and get to the most basic few foods possible as Ben did and success is likely to help not only the H. Pylori but the hives…and don’t forget the probiotics as Ben suggests, but NOT in yogurt…milk products can be poison to a hives sufferer, and there is no need to remind that stimulating beverages like coffee and even tea are not a good idea.

I do believe had both my son and my own ‘guts’ been more healthy it would not have turned into an infection causing my cough and his CU. Indeed. No more carbs for us. And yes H. Pylori is still classified as non-invasive. That said, I do not think the H.Pylori is considered a good bacteria. Even in smaller amounts it causes chronic indigestion, more amounts… ulcers and on the long term stomach cancer (very low percentage – like 2%). Unless I misunderstood this is why they are trying to develop a vaccine for it and also why the stomach health or gut health is getting so much attention. I was reading up on how they believe this bacteria can be blamed as causing a lot of the asthma cases and they are never treated for this bacteria which might help… I guess the point is, for those with CU and even other ailments…. getting treated for an H.Pylori infection may help. And for all of us, yet another reminder of the importance of avoiding carbs, sugar, etc… and getting back to a more basic, healthy diet. Here is another link to info…. its a long read though. PS…. do I have to give up my coffee though? 😉
